Nas HexOS build recommendations

Looking for some inspiration for a build I’m considering, it’s going to be some used parts and some new. It’s use case is going to be plex, cloud/backup functions.

I’m planning to use my old 3700x and 16gb of ram after upgrading, might rob a 6600xt from my htpc. What I’m unsure about is mainly two things, motherboard and case. Would probably want atx or m-atx for the ability to use pcie cards. For the case I would like at least 5 3,5 hdd, hotswap would be nice, but not a must.

So trying to keep it affordable would be nice, but willing to spend a bit more if it has something needed or specific functionality not possible on cheaper options.

Good value hdds are also of interest.
Located in Norway, so all options might not be available.

16gb of ram is going to be tight if you want to run 5 hdd’s and also run applications.

You might be right, but I already have them, so just to keep price down, but might sell and buy some ecc dims.

If you use something like RAID-Z (given it is HexOS, most likely) it might be worth considering some refurbished hdds from somewhere like serverpartdeals.com I still have not used them, so I am not sure whether they’re worth it or not, but the prices sure seem sweet. Otherwise I’ll just end up with some Seagate Ironwolves

Yeah I did look into them and they seem really nice until I saw shipping costs to Norway and vat on top. Will probably end up with something similar.

Yeah I’m kinda building it mostly to explore and figure out the os, so glad they offer perpetual licenses, so might take the step to plex (or something) streaming rather than an htpc.
