Brainstorming what to do when my current setup for PLEX & Backup runs out of space. I currently use an HTPC w/4TB HDD ( https://forum.teksyndicate.com/t/htpc-steambox-build-critiques/86304 ).
I backup with a simple Seagate external 4TB...
No expansion slot for another HDD in my HTPC case, should I get a bigger 6-8TB drive for that + extra backup, or look into a NAS?
I would but it's a HTPC in an entertainment center...not a whole lot else will fit
Well, then make more room? Or just turn this into your main NAS, and just get a cheap streaming PC or something
Personally I would build a dedicated NAS and use the HTPC solely for media and gaming. Leave the SSD in, take the 4TB drive out, buy another one (or three, if you need the space), and build a simple NAS. You can get a mini-ITX motherboard, a low end i3 or pentium/celeron processor, some RAM, and a suitable case for around $400. It's an very convenient way to store files and backups.

Yea that might be the easiest option at this point. Much appreciated
