Name some pc games that have scared you and freaked you out

I just got done playing single player Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army for a bit and I was reminded of the crazy screams in that game from the undead. Unbelievable! I know this game has never given me nightmares from playing it before and I don't expect that to happen tonight either but when I played Diablo and Diablo 2 I was told by my ex that I tossed and turned in bed and was talking about what was happening in the game and was clearly frightened. That happened on numerous occasions. So with all that said I am interested to hear anything you have to share. What are some pc games that have scared you and freaked you out?

Ravenholm was a bitch to get through. I was younger then, but I know that If I had the Penumbra games, the way they do things there would completely destroy me. I wouldn't be able to play it for long periods.

I'm also thinking back to that indestructible FUCKER from Dead Space 1 and 2. God, the sequences with that guy may not have been very scary, but some of the most stressful shit ever

I'll be honest... Myst scared me back when it came out. i was 5 years old. It was just creepy. Hell, wolfenstein 3D was so bright and funny that it didn't scare me a bit.... but Myst was just damn creepy :P

When I was playing through Oblivion there were some points with jump scares in the oblivion gates. I would turn and there would be an enemy right there that I wasn't expecting. I stay away from intentionally scary games just never been a huge fan of them.

Man, when I was a kid the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time scared the hell out of me.

edit:
sorry, you said PC games. I obviously ignored that. Although, you can easily emulate OoT

Funny that you bring up that game. I twice got to a certain section of that game where I had to be in the rafters or something and it bugged out / froze. I haven't played the game since.

The gurgling noises. The soldiers at times crying out while dying (some laughable but some OMG :S). I could go on but damn yes I could see how much of the sounds in this scared you and freaked you out. Wow!

The game Fear, with headphones, so you can get the full effect of the sounds.
It was not for me really scary, just super creepy.
Great first person shooter.

Heart of Darkness, the game not book, played it when I was a kid. The deaths are brutal and so is the overall atmosphere.

Limbo was inspired from this game.

Oddworld was legit disturbing at times too.

love those puzzle platformers

both can be emulated easily

DOOM 3 had my favorite scary moment when I flipped over backwards in my chair.

But Far Cry 3 had some scary moments also.

My friend was playing FC3 when he saw a jet-ski at the river. He said "I've never ridden a jet-ski in real life. This should be cool." As he stepped into the water a crocodile attacked and pulled him under. He furiously MASHED the knife button and managed to survive the attack and nearly drowning. We both were like "Whoa! Time for a break."

The first deadspace was, and still is fucking amazing. Especially on the hardest difficulty.

Not sure if it's available on PC, but Condemned is scary as fuck, because the AI is ridiculously smart, and will actively fuck with you.

Yeah it's Markiplier, but that game is still fucking scary as all hell.

And of course, Alien Resurrection. FUCK THAT GODDAMNED ALIEN BASTARD.

I still haven't beaten it.

Even after 10 years, my heart still skips a beat whenever I hear a Murloc.

Metro: Last Light was pretty tense at times, can't remember much else off the top of my head

LOL! Murlocs eh. I never would have thought this of all things would come up. Hahaha! : )

Haven't been scared since L4D.

Every single time I have played that series it has freaked me out. Sad to say I still haven't complete either of the games. :S
