MZ32-AR0 w/ Epyc 7642 Won't Post At All

Hey! Hoping that someone has some ideas…
I have an MZ32-AR0 Rev.1 and I’ve been running an Epyc 7001 series in there for a few years.

I went to switch to a newer Epyc 7642, but the system won’t post at all with the new CPU.

I’ve updated BMC, updated the bios (though it completes, it doesn’t show the new version in BMC).

I’ve reset the BIOS (cleared the CMOS).

Tried only one stick of ram in the C0, A0, and A1 slots…
Tried old ram, and the new Hynix HMA82GR7DJR8N.

CPU is not locked, no pins are damaged - it looks perfect.

On boot, the fans go full for a bit, slow down for a bit, then stay full until I force shutdown. I’ve waited a long time for it to post but nothing!

BMC still only shows the old CPU, I’m assuming that doesn’t update until it posts correctly.

Any ideas? I think I’ve tried everything I can think of! Any insight would be amazing…

check post codes and beep codes
(I’m guessing post codes are accessed on the BMC for this board)

How did you verify the CPU isn’t vendor locked? Read a few similar threads on here lately, where locked CPUs were the cause. Does the system still boot with the old CPU?

There aren’t any beep codes, it’s quiet when I turn it on.

I can’t find any post codes in BMC either… but that would be helpful! I’ll try to Google where those may be displayed if they show in there.

Huh, I trusted the seller? Do you know if there a way to confirm/check this?

I’ll be reinstalling the old CPU tonight or tomorrow again. Hopefully it boots up fine with the previous one still.

Post code should be on the dashboard (homepage) of BMC.

A POST code record would be perfect!
Unfortunately I can’t seem to find this in my BMC web UI, and nothing useful under logs either… Huh.

I guess mine was a newer version BMC.
Did you see the CPU being detected on System Inventory?
