My Rant On ATI Reviews VS GTX's

Just to tell you most ati reviews vs the gtx 280s they dont have physx installed.

witch if you ask me is BS.

sorry but it is. if its in the card they should use it.

and i read most ATI reviews giveing bs fps/ futuremark scores.

sorry but its the Turth. a GTX 280 does give better/a Major INCREASE in FPS and takes load off the cpu with physx installed. witch does beat all ATI cards till the x2 comes out.

also the X2 vs the GTX 280 shouldnt be comparied due TO X2 = 2 gpus in 1 card

gtx 280 = 1 gpu in 1 card.

so yes GTX 280 is the fastest *singal* gpu on the market.

if only theyd just shrink it down to 55nm. itd just be cheaper to make get another 10-15% performance and oc even better. :/

i think itd be enough to end the trash talking around the card, but right now its hard to justify the extra money it costs.

good points... the nvidia cards are probably the cards with the most muscle overall... but they are just so damn expensive in comparison. I think that is why everyone is so ATI crazy now...

how do you know if the physx driver is installed?

my computer's uni-code was in japanese for some certain programs to work properly and even if i try to switch it back to english my installer is still in japanese, so i don't know if the driver installed or not, is there a specific place where it installs or options for it?

Soon ATI are moving to Havok. While yes it does put a load on the CPU; the CPU isn't used much in games anymore; only for explosions and stuff; so there is more CPU usage available for havok, which means little to no hit on the FPS.

While with PhysX; it dumps the Physics stuff on the GPU. Since the GPU is rendering stuff at the same time; it means there is more of a load on the GPU; which in turn will result in frame loss.

try looking in control panel under other options, or check in the nvidia control panel

yeah, it's not there, so i'm guessing it didn't install, just wondering why it won't install

i saw this on the site.

Note: GeForce v177.39 driver package includes NVIDIA PhysX System Software v8.06.12.

i'm on 177.79, so i'm guessing i have it already, but is there options for it? or does it just do it's own thing?

price to performance I look at ATI and nvidia like this

nvidia: a ferrari, nice, sleek, expensive, all the little doo dads and go fast bits on it, everyone wants one, few can afford them, no REAL problems with them. Also look sexy in black

ATI: a toyota supra, a car that few would call a MONSTER or a BEAST but definitely gets the job done, no problems with it but due to fanboyism for nvidia will say that they are cheap, shitty, ect. And for a few extra bucks can easily compete with a ferrari any day a la' fast n the furious

So yeah both cards are top notch performers, one just cost more

Your forgetting one thing Death_Hand. NVIDIA RAZES MY WORLD! WOOOO

there is no doubt about it that the gtx 280 is the fastest single gpu card on the market at the moment but ati has better bang for buck even with the 280's prices going down. but have this in mind the physx part of nvidia is also being made for ati cads now as well and will be released soon but im not sure of the time. you can check many sites on this fact. But the ati cards directx 10.1 support is boggus for a reason to get it over nvidia because directx 11 will support directx10 cards. Plus and minus for both sides.

the whole thing about ati always dominating price to performance wise is a lie. its ture in the mid and high range cards right now but not the low and it wasnt true at all a while ago when i built my system. if it was id be on an ati system right now but the 3870 wasnt even less expensive than than the 8800gt, nvidia just dropped prices after the release of that card. id say more often and at launches ati is usually better price to performance wise but a lot of the time or in different areas of the market they aren't. things fluctuate to much for these analogies to work too well.
