Ok, so I just got out from the 360. I hate getting yelled at by toddlers playing CoD that they got from their mother. On top of that, My dad works at Intel and says that PC gaming is the best thing that you can do b/c you can game, work, relax, and do other stuff besides shoot people in a monotone shooter game filled with children. I got my PC from Fry's Electronics, and the guy said it was great for the price ($950 compared to $1050) and that it would get me through most of the next gen on high graphics settings. I wanted to build a PC but I knew it would be a hassle and I frankly don't want to mess it up, so I was willing to just buy it for a little bit extra and spare myself the trouble.
Lenovo K450 SPECS:
-Intel i7-4470
-Nvidia 650 GTX (that can be switched out for a different GPU when you need it)
-16 GB of SSD RAM
-2TB Hardrive
-Windows 8.1
I know I really missed out on a custom built rig, but I didn't want to spend tons of money and not be able to make it work. I really love RazeTheW0rld and Tek Syndicate and I love watching him :3
So I am ready to kill my console? Am I set with a good PC? Tell me!
Anyway, Thanks again guys and see you out there in the PC-verse :D
Ehh not the best price. Go with 8GB of RAM and a better GPU. An i5 will do the job, even a FX-6300. Not worth it for me. The GTX 650 is nothing special. You might be able to play next gen, but you won't be getting good FPS with higher settings. This guy is pulling your leg.
You'll be able to game. No doubt. But the fact is, that PC is way too CPU heavy. Most games rely on the GPU. You don't really need a 4770 or 16GB of RAM. The GPU is what matters most in a system for gaming, for the most part. That 650 will limit you. Badly. You could always add a new card in later, and more than likely need to change your PSU too, but you could have build one for cheaper. Some stores will even assemble the system for you for a nominal fee.
This system is what could have been built for that price. It will scream in games and productivity. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Pbkh
Although if you go AMD you won't be sacrificing that much with the CPU and get a kick ass system with a GTX 770 and an SSD. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Pbux
See what kind of PSU you have in there then if you need a better one grab the Corsair CX500. They are cheap and a R9 270X or a GTX 760.
From the looks of it you bought this system already? I'd try and return it.
Yeah I knew that to begin with, I was planning to overhaul in May. Planning to fit in a 770 or 760.
Right now, I can run BF3 on High with 60 fps.
Then again, I play mostly Fallout, Skyrim, Gmod, BF3, and flight sims. I don't really need a beefer :P And I will get Next gen titles when I upgrade to a 760.
Those games you listed can be pretty demanding, especially once you get to modding.
But if you just wanted a system for basic 720p gaming you could have built a rig for around $500-$600...
And overhauling to a 770 would add about $300 + $40 for a PSU. So total you will be paying close to $1300 for a system you could have bought for less than $950.
If you're happy with it I won't belittle you, but you could have gotten a lot more for a lot less.
Here's a sum-up: this is what you got (or worse, considering quality of components) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Pcxh
this is what you could have gotten if you'd built it yourself http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2PcPj
and you could save a 100 bucks off both of them if you'd skip the dvd drive and OS, we all have other means of finding precious booty on the lonely seas or use Linux/SteamOS just for shits and giggles.
But what's done is done, I hope that you're happy atleast with your PC.
So? He works for Intel. Big deal. He isn't going to get fired for having an AMD based machine in the house. Unless he could get you Intel parts on the cheap then you are better of going AMD. You can get way more for your dollar with a FX-6300...
idk i just hate the way they try to sell lenovo pc's as gaming pcs, i was at bestbuy the other day looking at some of their videocards (low end) i was thinking of making a light rig for my cousin, and then the dude is all like "whatcha looking for?" i told him my situation and he started trying to sell me some lenovo pcs, they were highly priced, 400-1300, the 400$ one he kept boasting about "look, 3 TERABYTES of storage!" and it'll handle anything, when it had a AMD A6 APU, and no dedicated graphics card, i feel like they try to reel in the average buyers with maximum storage and ram, never mentioning any other component besides the cpu.
