My Personal Build

Well this will be my Personal build, i'll be upgrading some things starting by the Mobo that i'll change it for a Gigabyte Sniper M5; i'll be updating this almost all the days, because right now i don't have the time to do it all in 1 day, but here the parts.

The Case will be for the moment a Cooler Master Elite 130, i'll buy it next week, and update, the plan is to buy a Bitfenix Prodigy M for January, and use the cooler master for a HTPC, and buy a Cooler Master saidon 120m.

i'll update next weekend, see you then :D

Shame you got that psu, CM should be held liable for misleading people about the output of these PSU's. IMHO I would be grabbing the receipt & try and swap it for something else.

The only extreme thing about them is the power output claims and extreme ripple.

Sorry to be a downer about all this, I just dont like seeing builds like yours falling victim to piss poor psu's.

....here is a review of the 475w version which uses the exact same design

well i'm not even mad at what you said, thats what i like, i like people telling my what i need to improve,i still can change it, because is not even open.

but i want to know, i dont have alot of money, this was a budget build, what other PSU you recommend, for an ITX build, with no too much overclocking?

and what do you think on this one "Thermaltake 730W Smart Modular" ?

These two are still cheap, but offer good quality especially the xfx unit as its a rebranded Seasonic unit (probably the best psu manufacturer around)

or this one if the above is unavailable

hope this helps

what do you think on this one "Thermaltake 730W Smart Modular" ?

because my seller doesn't have those 2 that you said.

Whats the website of the place you are going through?

>review of that thermaltake 730w< Shares my personal view on low end Thermaltake units, one real concern is the quality of the caps (ive opened up some tt units to discover the use of dirt cheap electrolyte caps when they state solid caps).

i'm from mexico, and the site is longview.com.mx under the tab "Componentes" --> "Fuentes de poder" here the link on the PSU area. the names are in english.

http://longview.com.mx/index.php?route=product/category&path=55_84

here in mexico the PSU are not cheap, i'm planning to use Max. $113 USD that are $1200 Pesos

The other option is that i will use the Cooler master for this month and in dicember buy one of the 2 that you told me, but with 750W because i'm thinking in changing my Mobo for a M-ATX and use 2 GTX760 :D

yeah, certainly not cheap by any stretch of the imagination..

here are some then

>>>cheapest half decent unit via longview.com http://longview.com.mx/index.php?route=product/product&path=55_84&product_id=174

the following are from another mexican vendor that may be worth a look

http://www.pc-mexico.com/+9347-FUENTE_DE_PODER_COOLER_MASTER_SERIE_GX_650W_20+4_pins_SLI.html

http://www.pc-mexico.com/+12682-FUENTE_DE_PODER_CORSAIR_CX500_430W_20+4_pins_CP-9020047-WW.html

well i'll ask for a change of one of those 3,  i can spend a little more on the PSU that a lot more in the other fried parts :D

Thanks for the help, i'll call them tomorrow to see if they have in stock one of those.

I had a CM eXtreme PSU 550W.  Horrible.  Took it out of my ITX system which I spent forever wiring, and got an XFX PRO550W PSU (deejeta linked).  Runs a lot better.  Cooler, quiet.  Try to find a Corsair, XFX, or Seasonic PSU to replace that.

Well my seller told me that they have  the Corsair CX500 :D and will cost just $4 more, translated to mexican pesos the extreme was $900 pesos and the corsair is at $950 that is not too much is like 4 dollars :D well i'll change it, i know i'll loose 100w but i investigate and well i prefer a CX that the extreme.

And right now i can't overclock because my board is locked, so i think that 500W will be enough for what i haveand in the future i'll buy a 700W because may be i will go SLI :D

Thanks for the help :D

You should be able to oc the cpu a bit (will need a decent cpu cooler though). Asus enabled overclocking on a few of the H87 boards, namely yours via a BIOS update,

http://www.asus.com/in/News/sg5rqU0TvIYRpUqc

and BIOS file is here;

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87IPLUS/#support_Download_35

Glad to hear you could exchange the psu.

You should be able to get away with a single 760 for a good while as they overclock pretty hard most of the time.

but now my question is, the cx500 will be good for all the stuff that i hve or I'll be on the limit, because i saw that the cx500 just deliver 430w and how you can see i'm new in all this, how i know if that psu wil be enough for my system.

its plenty.

My entire setup under load consumes just under 400w from the wall;

  • 2 monitors (1x30inch, 1x22inch)
  • reference speakers
  • system - oc'd 2700k, 7950, 1/2 dozen hdds, 14 fans, full custom water loop etc

haswell setups are really power efficient so you'll have no dramas whatsoever with the cx500. I'd go so far as to say that even crossfire 760s (when not overclocked & cpu at standard clocks) would be ok with the psu.

2x 760s are rated for 343w >>>link<<<<

The cx500 is rated for 500w continuous power output (550w peak), this continuous rating is what is most important. >>link<<<

well then i'll go for the CX500 hope works well also with a seidon 120M that i know it doesn't need alot of power :D, Thanks for the help, i'll upload a pic updating, and well opinions are acepted too, right now ill go for the CX500 at the downtown and see if i can get the seidon next week jeje
