My pc randomly freezes

hi, i have recently built a new gaming PC but i have encountered a few problems whenever i play games such as Dayz, Minecraft or far cry 3 my computer freezes but for each game it freezes differently for example in Dayz my computer only freezes whenever i put the 3D resolution all the way up or just past half way also it freezes when i record with Fraps, and then there is Minecraft this game runs perfectly when Im not recording i get around 150 fps and it works fine but when i record i get around 60 to 80 fps and after about 2 to 5 minutes the PC will freeze and requires a full reboot, and finally there is far cry this game seems to operate the worst it freezes no matter what i do sometimes it does in the loading screens and then other times i can play about 5 to 20 minutes until it freezes.

I would really appreciate it if someone would suggest a solution to the problem.

tell me if I've forgotten something.

FRAPS is a VERY CPU intensive program bro.  It's a HUGE drain on your system's resources, if you're looking to maintain your frame rate while recording there are other options out there, but FRAPS will freeze your PC on a regular basis if you are over-taxing your current hardware.  When you are not recording and your system freezes it is likely your GPU being over-taxed, this is especially evident if you are getting any artifacts.  It could also be your power supply...  Long story short in my humble opinion it sounds like you are asking for too much from your hardware, a 660ti is a good card...but it's not a behemoth.  Turn your settings down or overclock.

bump it up to an 800 or a 900 watt just to be on the safe side

Rinzler...don't say that man.  He just might take your advice.  LOL

I'd pull out the card and take a closer look, also are you still under warranty?

run memtest86 or prime95 and check if your ram are bad or something

is your cpu oc?

you want memtest86+

also, run seatools and check out ur hard drive
