My PC Build

Hello everyone, first time posting here on the forums but from what I have heard, you guys are a super helpful bunch. I was wondering if I could get some criticism and advice on a PC build I am planning on putting together sometime down the road (over the next few months, hopefully). Here is the build (thanks in advance for the help, I will be monitoring my post and replying ASAP):

Intel Core i5-3750K - $230
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - $30
MSI Z77A-G45 1155 Intel ATX Motherboard - $130
G.SKILL Ripjaw Series 8GB RAM (2 x 4GB DIMMs) - $40
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 7200 RPM HD - $110
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 GPU - $330
Fractal Core 3000 - $70
SeaSonic M12II 620W 80+ Bronze PSU - $90
ASUS DVD Burner - $20
AOC e2043Fk Black Slim Monitor - $90
Logitech MK120 Black USB Keyboard/Mouse - $20
Windows 7 Home Premium - $100

It all comes out to about $1300 (which is my budget cap). Again, thanks for any advice, tips, etc. This is my first PC build so outside of the research I have been doing, I am not really experienced.

It seems that you are going to be using that WD Caviar Green for your OS. I suggest at least a Blue drive but try and go for a Caviar Black. Caviar Green is ideally for storage and is not as good for running programs.

Not sure about MSI boards as i heard they fail alot.

Asus and Gigabytes do manufactor good motherboards, they are very reliable and never seem to ever run in any problems.

Do you intend on overclocking and what all will you be doing with it?

yep, I got a z77 board from them, not only did it have shit OC options but it wouldn't boot with 1600 ram when the ram worked in other systems, this is with a  3570K, they might have "military class" components but they need to get their shit together on their software and bios

Asus is the beesnees

The monitor you picked is only so 1600x900. get a 1920 x1080 they start at 22inch's and around $120. if you do get the 1600x900 you could save like $200 on the videocard  and max out every game out right now..

My recommendation

CPU/Mobo

RAM

Heatsink

PSU/Case

HDD

GPU

ODD

OS

1080p monitor (this is on sale but there are other 1080p monitors the same price, this is just the best one)

Keyboard/mouse

and after you recieve a $15 newegg gift card buy these, attach them to your 212 EVO heatsink and put the stock fan somewhere in the case, preferably on the side vent above the GPU

it should come to right bellow 1300 after shipping and the $15 card, I don't count rebates

The PC is purely for gaming. Since my PC is what I spend a lot of my time on, I would like to make sure I can do absolutely anything with it, especially in the realm of gaming. Thanks for the build recommendation, I will check out all the parts and get back to you.

Edit: It came to $1340, but that is because I took precautions and threw in thermal paste, static mat and anti-static wrist straps. Thanks again.

the 212 EVO comes with cooler masters paste which is as good as AS5, I don't know about antistatic pads and wrist straps, they're cool but holding/leaning against your metal case is just as effective

with the 212 EVO I would not Overclock over 4Ghz, for higher I would recommend the CM TPC 812, it combined with cosair fans will make it as good as closed loop coolers

I got it after I saw the video, and its pretty damn awesome

I dont plan on overclocking. I would have gone with the 2500K instead, but it looks like Ill be able to handle most games with OC.
