This is my first entire system build, I was sticking to a £800 budget (1300 USD). It will be used for editing, rendering as well as gaming.

i7 2700k - CPU

Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev2 CPU Cooler

Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard

Corsair Vengence 1866mhz DDR3 8gb

Sapphire HD 7870

120GB Kingston HyperX 3K

1tb WD CB (I already had this)

Corsair CX750 Builder Series 80+ Bronze

Zelman Z11 Plus Case

Windows 8.

I would personally go with Windows 7.

I didn't see the point in getting Windows 7. I personally don't find Windows 8 that bad when metro is disabled.

I would get a hyper 212 evo instead of that cooler and get a extra fan. So you can set up a push pull.

I was leaning towards that at the beginning, but I saw the one I bought for £15 and that kept it <800

That's very similar to what I had in mind, but I needed it to be less than or equal to 800. And anyway I only plan to oc to around 4.

You can always wait until you have extra cash. Thats what i did am still using my stock heat sink.

I dislike the case, i hope you're using classic shell but i'm dissapointed that you bought the OS, that cooler is the definition of thermal mass i'm sure it'll take you far.

if you want to OC past 4 dont buy it. i have one and it's a fucking jet.
