My moms computer

so i am really excited about the build im planning on doing next month, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/apm525/saved/1vyo         http://teksyndicate.com/forum/build-pc/1000-build/138624#comment-1373691

well my mom is helping me pay for it and asked if i could build her one for her buisness, now seeing how i got most my information from you guys, could you tell me what she needs.

basically she does not game... but uses photoshop and video editing softwear along with website programs, goes to lots of websites and stores TONS of documents, watches a lot of videos, lots of mocrosoft office,

i have no clue what she wants to spend on hers, we will probably oeder the parts the same time i get my parts and im probably ordering from newegg, i would say a cap at like 5/600 just the tower, she wants something that can be her home base and connect to her laptop, but also has more power than her 1200 laptop

dont need any programs or operating system or screen keyboard, she has destroyed her share of Dells and HPs, a great suggestion for a virus protection would be nice, building for someone who clicks on popups

get her an 8350, 990fx mobo, 2tb hdd, gtx 660ti, 8g of ram  in 2 sticks (you should also use 2 sticks, not just 1). whatever case, etc.

This might be a bit overkill, but it will do Photoshop stuff and multi-tasking well:

* CPU is good for the $ at multi-tasking on a budget.

* Mobo has plenty of options and supports front USB 3.0 ports for cases.

* RAM has LOW PROFILE heat spreaders so you have room for aftermarket CPU HSF's.

* GPU used for Photoshop/Video editing

* Case is one of the best for the $

* PSU can handle further upgrades down the road.

* SSD for snappiness in and around the OS & Photoshop.

no. cpu NOT good for multitasking. 8350 has 8 cores. the 4300 has 4. video editing NEEDS cores. also, adobe doesn't do opencl yet, so gtx 660ti is better choice than the 7770. just get ddr3-1600 ram. and a 500-650w psu.

thanks would this be able to handle everything she does? and would it be smart to put her operating system on a SSD or something idk, she breaks laptops a lot because of viruses

Yes that shude be fast enuff for anything she can throw at it.

If you have the extra cash to use a ssd its nice to have the fast boot times but i am gessing the pc is on all day anyway so its not going to make a huge differnce

^^What he said, but I'd reccomend 16 Gb of RAM for video editing.

4 cores is better than 2 (usually comparably priced Intel chips would be 2 cores). The FX 6300 would be better, but is about $20 (was $20, now only $10) more and my build is already pushing over the $500-600 budget.

Better setup (found better SSD price too):

the i7 owns all in photo editing especially when its the price of a i5

Just a thought, your build has a 1333mhz RAM. i'm not saying its bad but 1600 is the sweet spot for RAM. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/SUmr just a little bit above $1100 .

you lose 15% bandwidth when you are in single channle, that ram is no faster than 1333 Dual, you can get 1600 dual for the same price as 1333 dual so migh as well get that

sorry my bad, i meant to put a 2x4 1600 RAM

Edit: i didn't notice that it was 16gb. i really need to eat xD http://pcpartpicker.com/p/SUKb

Did the OP change his budget from $500-600 to $1,100? His rig was around $1.1k originally and he was looking for a computer for his Mom ($500-600). At least that is what I read.

Yup, 500 USD, that doesn't buy an i7 or an FX8350 system.

I would just make a nice 500 USD AMD APU A10-5800k system with an SSD and 16 GB of 1866 MHz RAM on a Gigabyte FM2 board.

More than enough for basic editing of consumer camera videos and photos, OpenCL acceleration in Adobe will come soon because they're working on it, with the SSD the PC will run smooth and fast. What it lacks in pure processing power compared to an i5, it makes up in disk transfer speed, which is just as big a factor in lightroom or premiere than the processing power.

If she's used to laptops, she'll love the speed of the A10-5800k with an SSD.

And let's go for a nice stylish high airflow gamer case with controlled fans and a good power supply also:

I was talking about his personal rig, not his mom's rig.

so i am really excited about the build im planning on doing next month, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/apm525/saved/1vyo           http://teksyndicate.com/forum/build-pc/1000-build/138624#comment-1373691

I believe he was talking about the OP's list that he hasn't yet built for himself, which honestly probably needs to be redone completly

this is good for editing http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

APU set ups for editing? what? lol

Use gigabusterEXE build i dont know how he maniged to fit in a intel xenon in to the price range but that set up will destroy editing work
