My mom is having laptop trouble

My mom has been having trouble with her laptop. I don't know what is going on. What she is telling me, When she goes to lift her laptop, it randomly restarts. I made sure the HDD connection was snug, did a test on the RAM, the hard drive is good, she does grab from the corner is when it usually restarts or sometimes even shuts down suddenly. Any soulutions?

LOL! BGA solder joint failure. Tough break, no fix. Get a new laptop.

"The test results indicated the first BGA solder joint failures occurred after 137 thermal cycles with a 276 thermal cycle population average being recorded. Typical BGA solder joint failures measured during other area array component investigations [1] has been in the 1000-2000 thermal cycle range. Metallographic analysis was conducted to determine solder joint failure characteristics. Figures 7 and 8 illustrates the BGA solder joint failure observed during the metallographic analysis. The red arrows in Figure 8 point to the solder joint crack."

This is the -only- thing I can think of to cause what you are describing. You have two options, don't move your laptop, or buy a new one. These BGA (ball grid arrays) have a certain and limited number of thermal cycles before failure and cracking. This is something could perhaps have been avoided in design but I won't go in to that. Read the report if you want to understand the problem. Sorry mate.

another issue is with power supply having become loose.  if it jostles and looses conection most laptops will restart or shutdown.

I'm assuming he was smart enough to try moving it with battery unplugged, and plugged in, no devices attached, you know the standard "wtf is wrong with this piece of shit" test before posting here. But yeah it could be a loose PSU connection but I doubt it.

Try tightening up the charger port or whatever. If that doesn't work take all the good stuff (Ram, Hard drive, processor) out of it and junk it.

it is still under warrenty. She only got it this year
