I was enjoying killing floor and then my GPU crashed and "recovered". When I checked the temps it was at about 90 degrees C. How hot should it be running when playing games??
Was it forged in the mountains of mount doom?
What do you mean
ok i thought there would be helpful people here
I'm just joking, You said GTX600... Those don't exist. Uhmm, You could remove the heat sink and be sure its clean and there is no dust present, Make sure that there is proper airflow and that nothing is blocking the rear vent. That's all I an really say. And 90 is way too hot, You should never go over 75 in my opinion. Also, Don't expect too much out of the forums here. It's dead as a doornail.
lol i meant 260 dunno why i put 600, but is 90C too hot? Will it break
It wont break but its best to try to fix it., What I'm sure of is that its really dusty.
i cant be bothered to buy compressed air to get the dust out, do i have to take every thing out to use compressed air or can i use it in the case?
you can always check around the fan and use a q-tip to swab out some of the dust that's in there. Does your case have good ventilation?
Honestly, its worth it for safety's sake. Being lazy wont do anything but damage your stuff.
Probably not, its old and not really a gaming one but ive used every free fan vent thing
Dust, WILL kill a machine.
buy a couple cans of air.Â
Depending on how dusty your machine is, you may start to experience full system lag.
dust is the evil enemy of computers, keep your system as clean as you can, and it will run true for years.
If you come here asking for help and dont take the help we tell you. Your PC should die. Just because you are a lazy moron. if your card is spiking to 90 it means your card is just clumped up with so much dirt.
ok well thanks, but can i use the air inside the case or do i have take everything out again?
you can use the air while in the case..  you just will want to take the machine outside when you blast the dust away....
I got an air compressor just for this type of thing.
Even if he doesn't take our advice, you really shouldn't lower yourself to simple name calling.
ok i will get one and wont q tips leave like cotton in the fans
I don't use Q-tips, if it is really caked in the heat sink, you can use pretty much anything, as long as you don't find yourself scratching up the motherboard.Â
just be careful and meticulous.
ok thanks for the help
Try turning up the Fan speed.
Or clean it like everyone else said.
