My GPU crapped out a bit

I have a MSI Twin Frozr 2 Radeon 7870. I had no problems with it until about an hour ago. I was messing around in Firefox, barely even using the GPU, when it stopped sending any signal to the monitor. The rest of the computer was fine. Hard drives still made hard drive noises and my wifi adapter lights were still flashing. So I did a hard reset. When the computer started up, the GPU fans were going full blast (they only run at ~40% when under a load) and I still had no signal to the monitor.

So I shut it back off and took the card out. It didn't appear to be physically damaged (without taking the cooler off it or anything) and it wasn't warm at all. I put it back in, fired up the computer, and it's been working just fine ever since (again, about an hour).

Any idea why that might happen and should I RMA it?

Personally I would run some type of GPU burnin tool to Max it out for a while and see if it starts to artifact or act up. If it did I would probly go for the RMA. Also make sure you have the newest driver available from AMD and not from the Install disc.

I always stay up to date with drivers.

I started up Arma 3 for a while to make sure it still worked somewhat, and it was as fine as one could expect from Arma.

After several runs through Unigine Heaven, everything looks and acts normal.
