You´ve run them on stock. Does that also mean without altering the number of active cores?
What I would like to see is a comparison between
the 8150 @ all 8 cores activated,
@ 1 active core per module which would force the games to use all of its FPUs,
and @ 4 active cores in 2 modules <--- just like an FX-4xxx CPU.
Then we could see whether 4 active FPUs or 8 active cores bring more performance. We could also find out how strong 2 FPUs are compared to 4 FPUs running.
Well i ran them at stock for a baseline, then i was going to post the benchmarks of doing the core disabling once i ran them, then it turns out my mobo only has the option to disable modules instead of single cores, and yes i did try updating my bios to the newest.
I really want to see the results also,in fact if i had gain enough fps i would keep it like that until i need all eight cores for something.
I should of looked before i ran the benchmarks lol...
What? You can only disable modules? Oh man that doesn´t sound too food and you´re using the 990FX chipset. I´ve got the Gigabyte 990XA-UD3. I hope that I can deactivate cores instead of modules.
It´s just a matter of time as I will buy a piledriver as soon as it comes out with a couple of benchmarks. I might go for the Octa or Hexa-Core varient. The Quad-Core is a no-go for me.
Then I´ll be able to tell you whether it works on my motherboard. Maybe you shouldn´t have used the newest BIOS? I´ve read in some random forum that there are certain BIOS version that allow deactivating cores on FX CPUs.
Yet if it´s not true that means that it´s not even a tru Octa-Core CPU because not even the BIOS recognizes it as such. -_-
Isn´t there a core affinity settings feature on Windows7? As far as I know you can customize core affinity for any application. I will check it out.
YUP done. Check this out http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-set-processor-affinity-to-an-application-in-windows/
You can run a game/application and then go to task manager in order to choose which cores shall be used for this very game/application. You can do this for every application seperately.
Take your time. I am not in a hurry. I don´t know about others though. Thanks for the benchmarks that you´ve posted so far. Doesn´t look bad at all except for Arma 2 and Batman AC. Such low framrates. Can´t be your GPU as it´s a beast.
Idk why i am getting low framerates on those games lol,i also thought it was weird how there was little differance between 720p and 1080p on some game, and it was weird how in far cry 2 i got a better max fps at 1080p.
Too bad. The modular architecture disappoints me more and more. I am currently looking out for a Phenom II X6 1100T or at least an 1075T as an alternative. I´ll start studying "practical informatics" next year so those Hexa-cores might come in handy.
In German it´s called "Praktische Informatik" so I hope that it´s the correct translation. Will study languages such as Java and C++, HTML & CSS and so on. Also we´ll learn how to develope for smart phones. All in all 5 1/2 years. That will be a tough time.
You were running on less than max settings, you has 0xAA i had max AA and max Dx11 settings, that plus the over clock is most likly why you got better scores.
