Let me start off by saying I'm new to the forum and I came here because 1.) I enjoy watching the YouTube channel and 2.) I'm making the switch from console gaming to PC gaming and 3.) I want to learn more about PCs in general
Here is the list of parts I'm going to be using
i5 4670K
Asus Maximus VI Hero
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GSkill Ripjaws 8GB 1866Mhz
Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD
WD Black 1 TB HDD
Asus GTX 780 OC Direct CU II
TP Link Dual Band Wireless Adapter (PCI Express x1)
Fractal Design Define R4
Corsair RM 850w Modular PSU
DVD/CD Combo Drive
I'm looking to play all games at 1920x1080 resolution @ 60FPS. Now I know that the GTX 780 is a little excessive right now with only 1080p but games like The Witcher 3 and The Division (Dat SnowDrop Engine lol) look amazing and also look like they will eat up tons of VRAM so I think that 3GB of VRAM is justified in this case. Am I right? Tell me what you guys think.
Everything looks superb for an Intel + nVidia build. I don't find anything wrong with it. You do also have a lot of overclocking headroom, even if you get another 780 and run SLI.
This configuration looks pretty good to me, however, you could save some money by going for another motherboard, the RoG boards that are being put out by ASUS are known to be a bit overpriced. Unless you can get a good deal on it I'd personally go for a board like the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H or the UD3H.
I'll admit I'm a little biased towards Asus. Mainly because I like the level of quality that Asus offers with laptops, monitors etc. but I've never dealt with PC parts but I assume Asus products offer that quality that I like. I bought a refurbished 24in 1080p Asus monitor a few months ago and I haven't had any problems with it
