My First PC

Hi all. I'm making this PC for gaming and picture editing.

I live in UK and this is the sites that I choose:

http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/index.php

I don't have final amount, but I'm trying to fit around 1000 £ (1.00 GBP     =     1.58388 USD) 1580 $

I try to educate myself before post anything so this is the parts that I like it somehow and looking for more Pro info.

This is my first build and my first post in forum ^_^ so feel free to judge me.

I'm sorry if I have some grammar errors :/

Case

    - Cooler Master HAF 922                                     - 90 £ ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-176-CM )

    - BitFenix Colossus Red LED                               - 120 £ ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-006-BX )

I like more Colossus, but I don't know is it too much for this kind of Case. But I'll making more upgrades in the future like : SLI or CrossFire; add more HDD and SSD... and how good is to have more space in PC case?

CPU

    - Intel i5 3570k                                                      - 170 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i5-3570k1155-ivy-bridge-quad-core-34ghz-5-gt-s-dmi-650mhz-gpu-6mb-smart-cache-34x-ratio-7 )

 ?

CPU Cooler

    - NZXT Havik CPU Cooler                                      - 50 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-havik-140-cpu-cooler-6-heat-pipe-dual-140mm-silent-fans-s775-1155-1156-1366-am3-am2plus-am2 )

Are this cooler gonna fit in my 2 chooses for cases?

Motherboard

    - ASRock Z77 Extreme 4                                      - 106 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z77-extreme-4-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-%28x16%29-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-a )

    - ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional-M                - 143 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-fatal1ty-z77-professional-m-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-d-sub-dp-d )

Here i want to know what are the major differences? And if is not significant to my gaming/pic. editing PC , can I save 40 £ ? And are the 2 motherboards have the option for SSD?

VIDEO

    - MSI HD7870 Hawk 2GB                                     - 220 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-radeon-hd-7870-hawk-4800mhz-gddr5-gpu-1100mhz-1280-cores-hdmi-mini-dp )

    - Gigabyte HD7870 OC 2GB                               - 190 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-gigabyte-radeon-hd-7870-overclocked-4800mhz-gddr5-28nm-gpu-1100mhz-dl-dvi-hdmi-mdp )

Hmmm... my question here is, which video is more powerful and durable ? And how big is the difference?

Memory

    - Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 2133               -  55 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-%282x4gb%29-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-racing-red-pc3-17066-%282133%29-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-11-11-11-27-xm )

Is it enough ?

HDD

     - WD 1TB  7200rpm                                           - 72 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1tb-western-digital-wd1002faex-caviar-black-sata-iii-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms )

I always like WD... probably because I have one in my Dell lap-top... and only I KNOW how much write/delete have on him ^_^
I'm looking for other opinions of course.

Power Supply

     - Corsair HX 750W Pro Gold 80+                        - 115 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-corsair-pro-series-gold-hx750-modular-psu-80-plus-gold-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-atx-v231 )

     - Corsair TX 750W Bronze 80+                           - 86 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-corsair-enthusiast-series-750txv2-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps12v-quiet-fan-atx-v231 )

This is the part that i don't know anything.
My 1st question is - how many W do I need for this system?
2. How many W do I need if upgrade the system with more HDD and SSD + SLI or CrossFire(after 1 year if the games need more video power) ? But maybe after 1-2 months definitely I'll buy some SSD.

3. I see this trademark in some videos of Logan and my question is : are this Power Supply is good enough for the money?

And feel free to suggest more Power Supply

Monitor

     - Samsung 23"                                                     - 150 £ ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-177-SA&groupid=17&catid=1425&subcat= )

This is the monitor that I like... But again, is it good ? :)

Keyboard

     - Tt eSPORTS                                                      -  44 £ ( http://www.scan.co.uk/products/thermaltake-tt-esports-challenger-pro-gaming-keyboard-hand-cooling )

If someone have experience with this keyboard, feel free to share ^_^

Thx to Logan that makes videos and i learn from him more for PC .... and mostly for that, I didn't buy Alienware for 1600£ and to have a system that is crippled to 30-40% of what they sell :D

Thanks to all who are here and help people like me (bow)

Why's everything in the UK so expensive? :O Okay, the cases are fine and you can fit SLI or CFX cards in it. The CPU Cooler should fit in both. The CPU is awesome, no doubt. I've heard the Fatal1ty board is good and it has more features than just the Extreme4. The major difference between those GPU's is the cooling system and also the back plate on the Hawk 7870 helps with OCing a bit but you shouldn't see too much difference, go for the cheaper one unless your an MSI fanboy. The HD is perfect, if you want another brand, go for Seagate. Minimum PSU requirement for the 7870 is 500W so those PSU's should be enough, might want to get a 1000W for two of them, i can do maths. Also Corsair makes really good quality products, great for the money. Your monitor choice is solid, 2m response rate is perfect for gaming and your keyboard should do the trick. I'd recommend a Sidewinder X4, cheaper with a ton of features but not mechanical.

Cos the pound is stronger than the dollar :) so companies can charge the same (figures wise). $300 is like $150 profit in the US, ship it to the UK and sell it for £300 and get the exchange rate back on it nearly double the profit :)

AMD build, i didnt put in a keyboard cos it would boosted the price more, i also added an operating system which i assume you might need and you can change other bits around but its a decent AMD build.

SSD isnt the fastest but as i said you get a general idea of what you can get for £1000

Get the amd fx 8350 since ur going to be editing.

First Thx for the full info.
You have a good point about GPUs so probably I'll take the cheaper one.

I saw Sidewinder X4 and looks good.

The CPU is very good like price and performance. One of the latest video of Logan maker review on the CPU. And I think is a good suggestion.

Аs I'll not overclocking the CPU your suggest for CPU cooling is better. But the programs that I work are very tough. And thing to give this extra 20-30 £.

About the MOB is two times less £ than my suggestion and have everything that I need Thx :)
Probably I'll go for this CPU and MOB

As for the SSD I'll not buy it for now and I have OS.  With this extra saved money I'll to buy a new router and sound system.

Thx a lot for your time.

Can you tell me if i5 3570k is with 4 cores and AMD FX-8350 is with 8 cores, will it be 2 times faster?

Noooooooo! Don't ever believe that extra cores means faster performance. Both CPU's perform about the same, I5 is suprisingly faster is most tests but the 8350 will definitely be better for rendering and editing.

8350 beats it so hard if its both over clocked if not they are in a pretty good race

:) ok ... my choice is AMD. I just buy it all parts ... after 2-3 days will find out how actually spend my money :D

If you want a Boss mouse, get a Logitech G400.

Hehe... wait till you see the price of PC components here in Singapore XD

Not ony that, but taxes also. Here in Singapore (SE Asia) a Sapphire 7970 vapor-X goes for about S$475

That's not much more than here in the US really.
