My First PC Build. *Need Guidance*

Hello TekSyndicate World.

I've Been Console Gaming Most of my Life. I Would like to get my foot much further in the door into PC Gaming. I Have been gaming on a Laptop since February 2012 but it isnt enough. I do have a basic understanding of computers. I would like to build a Computer Predominately for Gaming. I am a College student and it will also be used to get College work done. I Want to Keep the Build at a $1200 Price Range but will not go higher than $1500. Also Which is Much Better in terms for Gaming in the Long run? AMD FX-8350 or i5 4670k?

Any Recommendations on a Good build at this budget?

Thanks.

I have put together a AMD and Intel option and also a $1500 option. The Amd and Intel give room to add a Extra 770 later on. If you don't like Windows 8 just get Windows 7.

I can Tolerate Windows 8. I've tried Windows 8.1 and it fixed all the issues i've had so its great for me now.

The only real issue i'm sort of having with this build is that i dont have a monitor, i could use my 42 inch television for the build via HDMI but i cant afford to buy a monitor right now.

At $1200 you already have a good system. I would go with the AMD 8350 as it is 8-core and you say you are in college so theexcessive amount of cores may help you. Get a good cooler and you could probably overclock it to 5GHz if the fans are in push-pull. If you save some money (around $150) on components then you can buy an Asus VN247H monitor (it's 1920X1080 res.)

any good recommendations on a good motherboard for the 8350? this is my first build and i've been watching Logan's How to build a PC tutorial so i can get a better understanding of everything. cause im new to this.

This is the Monitior I would get http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ANKMNXO/?tag=pcpapi-20. The motherboard in the Amd build I suggested is the same one they used to OC the 8350 to 5Ghz.

thanks. I'll look into the $1500 you suggested.
