My first home-built PC

Hey,

I've always wanted to build a PC, never got the chance. I'm poor, but in my case, it's now or never. So, I tested my computer knowledge by compiling a parts list for a computer that I'm going to get for my very first rig on my own. Yay. You can just feel the exitement. But, I don't trust myself. That's why I'm here.

Now, It's worth mentioning that the reason I've been so dire for a computer is because a while ago, my old laptop blue-screen-of-death'ed on me (damn HP and their Pavilion piece of crap), and for the past several months, I've gone without one. I'm still in school, so as you could imagine, this is bad. College is... hard without a computer. Keep in mind, my old computer was a laptop, so I don't have a spare hard drive, mouse, keyboard, or monitor lying around to use. As a result, my build is going to be expensive, but I can't go witout it much longer. Anyways, without further adieu, here's my parts list (none of which I'm finalizing until I get the OK from the community):

  • AMD Phenom II x4 965 AM3 3.4Ghz
  • MSI 970-G46 AM3+ AMD 970
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1gb 128-bit
  • Corsair Builder series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80+ Bronze Certified Power Supply
  • G.Skill Ripjaw X series 8Gb (2x4Gb) 240-pin 1866 RAM memory
  • NZXT Tempest 210 ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
  • Lite-On iHAS124-04
  • Seagate Barracuda 1Tb 7200RPM Sata 6.00Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 65-bit
  • Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
  • Logitech G400 Gaming Mouse
  • ViewSonic VA1912A-LED 19" LED-Lit Monitor

Total Price (with Shipping)= $884.54

I feel like I've done well for my first attempt. Please, feel free to add suggestions and advice, but keep in mind that I cannot go higher than this. I am really stretching my limits with this build, but I feel like it's going to be worth it. Also, I am a gamer, so the GPU stays. I know it's not much, but It's all I can handle right now. I'm a very avid League of Legends player, so It's not like I need a $200 GPU either. There's room for upgrade later.

well im building a $700 gaming pc in canada so this is my list you could just add on the stuff you want and i just want to let you know that i have been resaerching pcs for over 6 months so this is the best build for the money http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/wlKT

If you're on a tight budget, then don't get those expensive peripherals ( mouse, keyboard ). Try to find cheaper ones, and you'll probably be able to get a 7850. If you're pretty sure you're not gonna be upgrading the CPU for a few years, then a 970 board is a waste of money. Get older AM3/+ chipsets( they'll be cheaper, of course), preferably one with the good stuff( SATA3, USB3 and stuff). Maybe with that you might be able to buy a 7870. If not, if your laptop drive is not broken, you could always use that and not take a hit in in-game performance .
