Just tell me what you think, I'm open to criticism. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/aaron719/saved/2CT8
I plan on using it strictly for gaming (specifically new A+ titles like BF4) at high settings with great performance. I'm hoping I allowed for some easy upgrades in a few years.
$650-750 budget
Side notes: I'm sort of questioning the motherboard, but I got similar reviews on several others in different brands and prices.
Any advice for my first build?
You can get a 7950 for $180, so you should get that, its faster and cheaper. Also, grab a 1TB WD Caviar Blue instead of that Barracuda. Everything else looks good.
I grabbed the HD, thanks for pointing it out.
I'm still questioning a cheap 7950. I'm reading some fairly high temps and very questionable longevity. It seems as though the secondary purchases I'd have to make would outweigh the pros of the price. I'm trying to decide what I would have to buy or upgrade to keep the card running cool and lasting long. Upgrade PSU, more fans, bigger case, bigger heatsinks and more fans for GPU?
My hd 7950 never gos over 65c or a fan speed of 40% you will find nivida cards of the same callaber get a lot hoter than that.
some one said to me on this forum that the 7950 windforce is very very good for oc. up to 1150 mhz. cuz it has 3 fans! so it will be almost the same as a 7970.
GB windforce cards are locked voltage and 1150 is rather poor for a HD7950 1200mhz+ is what a good HD7950 will run at.
wel a fx 8350 is probably better than the fx 6***. i don't know about the 6 cores. maybe you should get the fx 8320 or the 8350. and the motherboard isn't the best i believe. asus is much more quality.
if you oc this build you can can run bf4 on ultra 50fps maybe. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Rz5p
ahtlon is the best price/quality cpu on the market and the 270x is a 7870ghz which is also pretty good. you can oc this gpu because it has 3 fans but you don't need to do that. the mobo is expensive but you can oc your ahtlon with it and it has sata 6 i believe which is very handy. to me this is agood build. and you have 45$ for your keyboard. thats personal. the nzxt 210 has also a window version which is 9$ more but it is cool.
the 7950 windforce was a bit expensive so i went with the 270x.
430 watt is enough for 1 gpu, if you plan on crossfire go with 600-650. allways plus bronze or higher. xfx pro 650 is good. but i don't know if you get more performance with crossfire because the cpu isn't the highest. bottlenecking might be a problem but you should ask that to logan or an expert on the forum. but 430-500 watt is good. corsair has some good 500 plus bronze psu's with good warranty.
