My first build. CMOS Failed. Is my mobo bad?

Finished building my fist build and on startup I see the motherboard splash page. On the bottom of the splash page I noticed "CMOS failed. Press DEL to enter setup"

After a few seconds the screen switches and I get a black screen telling me to select a bootable hard drive

What SHOULD I see? do I need to send my mobo back?

Also note that I do not have an instillation disk yet. I'm waiting on it.

Clear your CMOS, your motherboard manual should tell you how, and if that fails, RMA it.

What does that message actually mean? and would it wtill let me enter the bios and ask me to select a bootable drive ect if something was wrong?

Easiest way to clear CMOS is to pop out the battery for ten seconds or so. I suggest unplugging power supply first, just to be safe.

It means, find a section in your motherboard manual (the book you got with your motherboard) called either clearing the CMOS or clearing the BIOS, and follow its instructions. If this fails to fix your problem, then send your motherboard back.

The message means that either your CMOS is corrupt or that your CMOS battery is dead.

i dont realy get the problem? if you pres dell do you get in the bios then ? if so then first set correct date and time.

I wasnt even sure it was a problem. I just noticed it showed the msg at the bottom if the splash screen.
