My first build any advice will be greatly appreciated

intel is being a bi**h about pricing and are continuing to be bi**ches about the price, as there is no competition as of now. and amd processors arent that bad in by anyway or means, they have solid price to performance over any intel chips in the market.

I have a somewhat similar build and love it. My only suggestion is to get at least a 256Gb SSD because a lot if not most games can't be installed on a secondary drive which is a huge inconvenience. I have a 256 SSD and every like 6-9 months I have to use Windows 8.1's Refresh your PC to make room. Even tho mine is 256Gb I still get full pretty quick and I can't find exactly whats doing it and have a huge performance drop which angers me. Uninstalling individuals programs helps but doesn't totally fix it so that's why I use Windows Refresh. So my advice would be to get a larger SSD and if it is not in your budget right now just use a normal Hard Drive until you have the money to upgrade which is quite easy to do.

So I have been taking all the recommendations listed above and working around my build trying to keep it in a budget I would like but have a question. Between these three Intel CPU's which would you recommend the i5, 4460, 4590, or the 4690k. I am new to this so over clocking is not something I will be doing probably so for that reason I am thinking of removing the 4690k from the list but want to hear your thought. Thanks

as the owner of an msi r9 280x im not impressed. (that might be a linux thing YMMV) hodl out for a better gpu and you need more ram. 16 minimun, if you plan to upgrade the ram in the future make sure the stix you get don't fill up the slots available. cheap out on the prosser, you don't need 8 cores unless you are a content maker, professional. just my opinion, i could be wrong

afterthought: your first build is about the budget, for sure, but keep us posted about the actual build process, and getting the thing to BOOT. gl

This is my first build and my knowledge on this is very basic so any help on my list would be awesome and will like to see what everyone recommends.
These are the parts I have chosen so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ys94Vn
My budget is to remain the same if it can get cheaper then thats better, I live in the US, I am a college student so will be using the computer for the basics, gaming, photoshop, some movie editing and things like that. For OC not familiar with it so wont be getting into it yet.
I am leaning towards running two operating systems.
So help anyone can help out thanks.

I would change the gpu to a 380, and why do you have such an expensive case? A $30 case would work just fine.

EDIT: With a locked processor (one that doesn't overclock and doesn't have a K at the end), you don't need an aftermarket cooler, so drop that from the list.

If you don't mind can you send me a link to the GPU that you are recommending me. And for the case just one I like but wont get I think there is a $40 one i will get.

If you drop the cpu cooler, get a cheaper case, you can swing some better parts. I would recommend look at either getting 16gb of ram, a 390 instead of the 380 linked below, or a larger ssd (the 250gb 850 evo).

Agree on the 40$ case. The PC needs a home. I also went with a cheapo-sharkoon case and upgraded to a fractal core 3500 later (which was not that much more expensive to begin with).
