My dad wants to put bloat on my PC HELP

Going MADD on it eh?

Perhaps he could install some hidden bloatware on his dads computer, right around the same time, to make his dad think that these programs are wrecking his own computer.

lol they already are. but he's fine with paying 14/month for a slower computer as long as his son is protected from the evils of society and liberals.

I don't mean slowdown, I mean crash. Load that puppy up until it just freezes constantly and his dad can't do ANYTHING

@Trikstari, that is really stupid advice. Especially since there is risk to harm not only single computer bot other devices too in local network.

i make fun op, but there's not much you can do other than try to reason with your dad and show him you can be trusted not to look up porn and gore. fact of the matter is you are 13. when i was 13, the internet was not what it is today. porn took too long to download, lol, not to mention they were all magazine scans. i spent most of my time on irc or just browsing webrings about anime and gaming. but i was also on a 56k modem so my time online was already limited as we only had one phone line. honestly though, you're not missing much. if there are legit sites being blocked then you should be able to just tell him and he should be able to give you access to those sites. good luck lil bro.

I would have a dual boot of Linux and Windows. The other route is to talk it out with him and tell him your just trying to protect your investment.

I mean, if it's going to screw up his computer, might as well go the Mutually Assured Destruction route.

I'd do the same thing, and my response when I got in trouble for it would be "what did you expect me to do? You didn't even make an attempt to trust me, so why should I act in a trustworthy manner?" If you expect someone to behave a certain way, and act based upon that, then how can you be surprised or even angry when they do so?

@Trikstari: You sound awfully like someone from southern part of USA. "Mutually Assured Destruction" is not a solution. It is a type of failure.

Being a kid sucks. Get used to it.

But so does being an adult. You have to take care of so many things, like paying bills, deadlines, ect. Meanwhile kids just go about doing whatever they want, without a care in the world.

Giving in isn't a solution either.

better than getting your 800 dollar pc taken away.

Since personal property such as a computer is not age restricted (as far as I can find), that would be theft. At least in the US it would.

oh yeah, sure, call the cops :p

That's a delusional method of thinking. You own nothing, as long as you are a dependent under someone elses' roof.

Not according to the law, as far as I can find. Possession is possession. I have seen nothing that says "you cannot legally own something while you live with your parents", barring things like firearms.

Or just threaten to if the object is not returned lol

he's 13 years old. yeah, he's gona get lawyer and sue his dad. get real man.

@anon43920604 how long has it been since you lost your touch with reality? Or are you intentionally giving harmful "advice"?

  1. Not sue, call the police and report a theft, big difference.
  2. How is it harmful to tell someone that they are well within their rights to call the police when someone takes something they own, away from them, that they paid for with their own money? Theft is theft, doesn't matter who is doing it unless they have a legal justification like when the police do it (well, they usually have some kind of justification)

Unless you can point to me a law that states "your parents can take your possessions away from you as long as you live in their house under a certain age" then he would have every right to say "no, you are not putting that on my computer, and if you attempt to take it away, I will press petty theft charges"
