My computer just started making buzzing noises when I use the scroll

As I named the post. . . My computer just started making buzzing noises when I use the scroll.
I use unRAID 7 beta 2, and my VM that I mainly use, just rebooted and afterwards the bluetooth device was disconnected which was an easy fix, since I have an extra mouse connected to the system in case something happens. When I reconnected the USB-BT device, my mouse went on a hyperdrive, and was 2-3 times faster then it’s set to be.

After the reboot I started to notice new sounds from the computer that I have never heard before. "/ Buzzing as soon as I scroll on a webpage. Haven’t started up a game yet in order to check if something is wrong. The only thing new that I changed recently was the setting of my RX 6700 XT, to use Super Resolution in the AMD Experience Suite.

I can’t localize where the sounds come from though. It was while trying to do that, that my USB-BT device just disconnected from unRAID. "/ So I don’t know if it’s the m.2, MB, GPU, CPU or PSU that’s making sounds. "/

consider usb noise being induced into your speakers from the mouse maybe?

Sounds like gpu/psu components buzzing when a certain frequency is achieved due to the demand for screen refreshes in response to scrolling.

I’ve encountered this in the past as well, back when I had a classic desktop setup. I have no advice on how to deal with it. Figuring out the exact component that’s vibrating can be extremely difficult. Even the power cables themselves can be a factor.

I’ve had mouse cursor movement trigger buzzing from the GPU. Not a lot to do about it other than adjust the GPU’s clocks, voltages, or boosting levels.

Of course the default advice still applies, make sure everything is grounded and there’s not an issue with the grounding line for the outlet/building.

I’ve had this happen as well, but I assumed it was the monitor. My solution was to forget about it until it went away on its own.

Hahahaha!

I’m thinking it might actually be the new AMD Driver that changed too much regarding the GPU.

Hah! Grounding. . . This building is so darn old, the only thing that has proper grounding is probably only the stove.

It could be kernel calls and how they’re done on your hardware depending on how old it is.

Have you tried locking the CPU/GPU frequencies to one that doesn’t buzz? That could tell you more.

I would also try checking the motherboard pins for corrosion, although it’s the last place I’d look since mobos run at 24V which greatly reduces oxidation and thermal stress of the electrical connections.

just like a 24V battery that needs maintenance you could clean the pins and apply a conservative amount of silicone grease with a fine brush to the male pins of the main mobo power connector
