My computer isn't working to par

I'm running a 980 Strix and an i7 and I got a score of 7435 with 3DMark. I have been noticing games not running as well as I would have expected and freezing up. What am I doing wrong?

We'd need more information to help with that. Listing out the specific parts, including motherboard and ram, and describing specific problem in specific applications will give people way more to troubleshoot on.

Is this better? I was just getting poor performance such as freezing for a few seconds in War Thunder every few minutes, Arma 3 Altis Life was getting under 20 FPS in towns when my friends with lesser computers were running it better, in Battlefield 4 I would experience some FPS drops and somewhat rare freezing for a couple seconds.

What power supply do you have?

Corsair RM750

Most of those games I don't know much about, but BF4 is toted as the stereotypical benchmark. Looking into the system requirements, though, the other games seem fine. I mean, a 980 at just 1080p? Because your rig seems solid, I would think this may be an internet problem or a bottleneck since you say "under 20 FPS in towns."

I doubt it's a bottleneck, though, because the 4770 shouldn't have problems with just gaming. Do you have a lot of background applications going at the same time, though? Also, how's the internet where you are? That's the most likely problem. Better yet, do you have lag in single player games?

Oh, I forgot to ask, are you overclocking anything?

My internet shouldn't be an issue and I don't really play any single player games that would be intensive so I cant really say for that. I'm not overclocking.

Huh. I couldn't say from this. If you are having such serious problem that are really interfering with your gaming, then obviously something is wrong. Maybe a bad part? (how new is everything, was it always this bad, did it get worse, etc) Possibly malware? Etc? Go ahead and give any more information you may know for other people to reply to, but for now I can't help you. Bedtime and I don't see what might be wrong. Good luck!

Thanks for the help!

Is the computer new, did you install any new hardware or software recently before the problem started?

The computer is fairly new, only a few months. I think the issues have lasted since I've built it.

What's you temps under heavy loads? Are you being throttled?

Sounds like a hardware issue. If your temps are good try running memtest86+ for at least an hour, if you get any errors replace your RAM.

Last time I ran 3DMark my GPU ended at 40C and everything else was around 30C

What's you CPU temp after 8 hours of 100% load?

I have no idea.

Alright, screw this. Computers are hard, I'm giving up on technology and living off the grid as a hermit in the woods. Thanks to anyone who tried, but it was in vain. <3

I had this issue aswell, I sorted out the freezing by updating the graphics drivers to beta and removing my 4.6 Ghz overclock.

So if you haven't given up yet, http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/83819/en-us

Alright, thanks. Where would I find the drivers for the 980 Strix?
