My Build: Does it need tweaks? Cost: $2500.00

My computer crashed a few days ago, but cat a somewhat convenient time, I was already planning to build up a new pc, a beast gaming rig that is built to last for future years. Here are the components: (keep in mind this is te first time I would be building from the ground up, so not even sure if I have all the required parts, and I may have forgot some.)

What do you guys think? What else does it need?

thanks!

One question. Are you 1080p or 1440p?

I intend to push the system to 1440p

Ok. I'm guessing you're in Canada so I am using the Canadian PCPartPicker. I also do not know if you have a monitor or not. I am guessing you have a 1080p monitor. I also made a build for 1440p gaming. It looks much nicer IMO.

1440p: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1twiJ

1080p: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1twyj

As you can see, I did not use up all the money in the 1080p build. You simply don't need anything better than that. It will already eat everything alive. If you want you can always add another 7970 in the future. The PSU will work fine with CF 7970's.

You could always go Intel, but since game devs are makign mroe and more games optimized for AMD, I highly recommend it.

Somthing like this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1twza

Get a nice Korean Monitor as Logan has suggested

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FreeExpress-New-ACHIEVA-Shimian-QH2700-IPSMS-Lite-Edge-27-LED-2560x1440-/330932558966?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4d0d1e1c76

And this setup should last a long-assed time. Less than $2100 with tax

AMD: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1txCY

You well need to go to a Different cooler if u play to use all the DIMMs on the Sabertooth. I too use the sabertooth 990FX with a H100i, I had the 4x4Gb DIMM's of  Corsair Vengence Memory the position of the Tubing on the side was applying pressure to the the DIMM in the First Slot, and the system fealt shakey, i personly resovle the issue be replacing it with a 2x8GB kit. My personal recommendation, find a cooler that has there tubing connected differently

So, so, so much I would change at $2500

Forget about AMD; they're great, but not at this budget.

780 = Titan, for less money. Will you be Folding? If so, the TItan rapes everything out there, but in gaming, the 780 is more than enough.

32GB of RAM is pointless. 16GB max, but in 8GB sticks.

PSU could power four of those systems. Get a 550 or 650 if you want to add another GPU later on, for 780 SLI, and such.

Bigger SSD. Get an 840 Evo 1TB or M500 960GB.

mATX master race. Do you need quad SLI or tri-SLI/Crossfire? Ever? No, you don't. mATX is small, has the same feature set as full ATX, and is just more badass. TJ08B-E is a great case, very well built, and great design.

For an mATX motherboard, the Maximus VI Gene kicks some major tiny ass. Great VRM, and fantastic components all around. Looks sexy, too.

Seasonic X650 PSU; more than enough wattage for a single 780, and more than enough for TWO 780s, if you want to max your board out later.

Speaking of 780, anyone want a white PGB, super high-end overclocking, end-all 780? YOU DO. Galaxy 780 HOF, fantastic card, with TONS of room to OC, and looking super amazing while it is doing so. White PCB = instant buy.

Phanteks PH-TC14PE with two Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans to replace the stock fans. Super powerful cooler, beating the 240mm CLCs in almost every way in aesthetics, price-performance, and noise. Looks great, I personally have one, and stunning performance for the cost. The Noctua fans lessens the p/p, but increases overall performance in the end, but drastically drastically reduces noise.

Overall, this rig leaves you with spare room for some MDPC-X, maybe even a custom loop, if you dropped the Phanteks. Lots of options, and a great case to work with, if you do want to OC in SFF.

Your build is great and completely blows mine out of the water. THe only thing is that he might not have the monitor :/ For 1080p that would be overkill (In my opinion atleast).

I cant agree with paying $600 for storage, even for that ssd.

Fine, get an M500 960GB, and drop it $70 or so.

dude take brenans build, if you want a better screen just drop the i7 to an i5 the real difference is hyperthreading and legacy support anyway so if your just gaming the i7 wont be that much better for the price. if your doing more than that then well yeah.

Also, another thing that none of us have factored in, maybe some I think, is 13% tax :/

So Brennan, after tax, your build is about 2627 dollars :/

I can adjust for that easily. Be right back.

Just drop the Noctuas, and get the M500 over the 840 Evo.

Again, you still run over $2600. If he intends to push to 1440p, one would assume a new monitor is needed.
I do agree with your choices, but this needs to be closer to the original budget.

To the OP, do you intend to include a 1440p monitor in your budet, or will that be a future expense? That would really help nail down what we should be suggesting..

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1tBUF

This is my suggestion for $2500 without monitor. I've still kept your original case, as I assume you chose it for a reason. A 750w power supply will be needed for this build if you ever intend to get a second 780 and overclock. The cooler is also subjective. The best closed loop system you could get while remaining under budget would be the thermaltake water 2.0 Extreme, as it's thick radiator allows it to outperform the H100.

it's really not, if he wants to use a secound gpu he can now, that and the 780 likes to have more than 32amps worth of rail to play with, witch this psu has so no it's fine

He should just get a 650W that has 60+ Amps on the 12V rail, then, for dual 780 goodness.

ultimately if he can match the quality for the price then yeah cool, but well xfx psu's are quite cheap (still damn good though) i guess he could get a 650 gold xfx.

admitidly i personally would feel abit nervous runnig 2 780's on a 650 psu even a really high quality one even on haswell, but like you said it should be fine. i just like that little bit of overhead as most highquality psu's operate at ther most efficient between 60-80 percent loads after that as you know effinciency does'nt drop of by to much but yeah.
