My Build and Motherboard Selection (HELP)

Yesterday I put together my brand new PC from Newegg only to find out today that my PSU, CPU, and MOBO were all DOA... Along with the front plate of my case being shatterd. Today I put in for an RMA to get my PSU,  Case, and my CPU replaced along with my MOBO to be refunded. I'm very hesitant now to buy another MOBO because little did I know the one I bought was 2 years old. I don't know very much about MOBOs other than I need a LGA 1155 socket. Here is a list of parts and please give me some suggestions about what would be a nice motherboard for this setup. My old MOBO was an ASUS P8Z77-V LK.

(Don't really have a budget but I don't want to be unnecessary)

Parts;
CPU: i7 3770K Ivy Bridge

PSU: 850 Watt Thermaltake Black Widow  TR2 RX

GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature 2 Edition

RAM:  Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz (2x8gb)

Case: Fractal Design R4

HDD: Western Digital 1TB Black (7200 RPM)

Wireless Card: ASUS Wireless-N PCI-E Adapter

The GIGABYTE GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI will absolutely pleasure that setup. Like a donkey in a cider market.

I'm guessing it has wifi already built in?

Yep

I realize I said I had no budget but I was looking more at a >$275 board, I'm looking for the X79 chipset though. :)

Okay, how about the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3?

This is me from the other post btw.

Thanks for checking this out! and that one looks promising, 2 quesions though. 1. What is the difference between the LGA 1155 and the LGA 2011? and 2. What is the difference in the Z77 chipset and the X79 Chipset?

and what about the UD5?

The 1155 is a socket which is getting quite old now but still can run its course...the 2011 is the newest socket and is very much a powerful socket...so 2011 will beat 1155 in most cases.

The different chipsets are for different CPUs. They have a few differences such as quad memory in the X79 over dual in the Z77.

Can the X79 and the LGA 2011 run properly with the i7 3770K Ivy bridge?

The x79 chipset and LGA 2011 sockets are part of intels extreme range they will not work with socket LGA 1155 processors like the i7 3770K Ivy Bridge.

You want a z77.

Yep what Flux said.

Hmm, thank you Flux, do you have any suggestions for a motherboard? Oh and I remember you posting on my topic yesterday and it turns out I was doing everything corectly I just got 3 DOA parts... All that hassle for nothing. :(

Yup bad luck some times that sort of stuff just happens. What is your price range for the mobo?

Oh no there is a bunch of diffrent chipsets for the socket 1155 but only a few support ivy bridge z77 is one and i forget the other. z77 has a bunch of features like intel smart cache or whatever its called and supports overclocking. The other ivy bridge chipset doesn't support overclocking and has a lesser featrue list and since they both cost about the same there is no real reason to get anything other than z77.

and also what you are saying is that im limited to a Z77 chipset MOBO?

No real exact price range but under $275 would be nice.

And I would like it to have and onboard On/off and reset switch but thats not essential

Any suggestions?

asus sabertooth z77 thats what i would get at a 250$ price point check out this vid   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZsEGXgrSJA
