I have an older LGA 2011 board that will support the new CPU I bought IF I can update the bios first. But I can't update the bios without an older CPU first. And unfortunately I can't just get a cheapo CPU for a temporary bios update since ALL 2011 CPUs are pretty expensive. So what would you guys do? I'm tempted to take the mobo to microcenter, explain my situation and have them update the bios for me with a borrowed CPU I'm hoping they have laying around. Except that I feel like that would be beyond their skill level, even if they were willing to do that for me.
Gigabyte board: doesn't even have to post, just flash it from USB drive on power-on. But I'm sure that it posts, but then says CPU not recognized, and it won't boot. With F2 you can flash the BIOS from USB even at that stage.
