My Battle With AT&T

Hello everyone as you all know the FCC has redefined broadband speeds from 4mbps/1mbps to 25mbps/3mbps. In response to this I confronted AT&T on my current DSL plan (yes DSL is considered Broadband under the FCC) also AT&T calls it High Quality High Speed Internet here is how it went.

What's the point of this call? It sounds like you called just to be an asshole.

Seeing you have DSL in this day in age, I'm *assuming* that the only service they offer in your area.

The level one "customer service" can't do anything for you. They don't have any authority in the company at all. Yes the FCC re-defined the term. Maybe their dev team hasn't gone through all of the web pages and changed the wording.

Taking your anger out on them isn't going to do anything but ruin yours and their days. Yes they are probably telling you "high Speed" because that is what they are trained to do. They probably will change everything soon. it was only changed like what, a week ago?

plus, DSL technology is VERY distance sensitive. Meaning the further you are away from the phone company hub (or central office), the slower your speed is going to be along with line quality, etc.

They will not make a new higher plan with faster speed if they believe all of its customers are to far away to always get the speed they are advertising. (based on assumption)

TL:DR

You are taking the wrong approach to this situation and it sounds like you just want to try to get some internet fame.
