MW51-HP0 BIOS Supervisor Password Problems

I’ve been helping a friend get a server they just bought up and running. It’s secondhand, and the motherboard is a Gigabyte MW51-HP0. We’ve been trying to get into the BIOS. but it asks for a password. The previous owner says they don’t remember there being a password set, but it sure is there. We’ve already tried clearing the CMOS via the available jumper as well as setting the ‘Bypass Supervisor Password’ jumper to ‘Bypass,’ and neither have been fruitful. No matter what happens, we end up with a screen requesting the BIOS password.

If anyone has any experience with this problem on this motherboard, can you please assist? Thank you.

Unplug the pc
Remove the bios battery for at least 5 minutes and reset the bios with the jumper.
It would not hurt to hit the power button to drain any residual power stored in the capacitors.
Replace battery and unset the jumper.
Plug the machine in and turn on to see if bios is cleared.

Is that the CMOS clear jumper or the password bypass jumper? Or yes?

yes

He tried that; he even left it with both jumpers set to the ‘reset’ position for 24 hours. It’s still asking him for a BIOS password.

Here is the official bios recovery procedure: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/server_manual_MW51-HP0_e_v10.pdf
Its on the last page of the manual. I dont know how to fix it other than to install windows and reflash the bios with either the same or updated bios.

Edit:
For the sake of clarity , you did try booting into bios with the “clear supervisor” jumper set to pins 2-3 ? The manual mentions this jumper “clears the supervisor password” (pgs 5-6), then mentions its a “skip supervisor password” later on (pg 29)

We did have the clear supervisor jumper set to 2-3 when we tried to enter the BIOS. When we try and boot to external media, the boot select screen is also blocked by the supervisor password. We’re going to try moving a known working jumper over to the supervisor password pins and hope that does something. Maybe the jumper is bad?
