Muting Subforums Does Not Work

I tried to mute a subforum as I am no longer interested in anything that is going to be posted to it. I have noticed that it does not actually stop the topics posted in or created there showing up in the live feed largely defeating the purpose of muting it at all.

@Thinking_Emoji has since confirmed that muting subforums does not mute the new or updated topics from that sub forum showing up.

Is this something that is fixable.

Thanks. I kind of ran on the assumption that Wendell will keep an eye on the bug reports more han anything else.

Not sure admins can do much, seems like a back end issue but would be happy to be wrong.

Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken @wendell runs the physical server hardware and has full code access.

Seems to be hiding stuff for me now!

Where's the option to mute a sub forum?

And yes wendell is pretty much the admin of the forums so those kind of things are mainly brought to him.

I'll just post a screenshot :

that would mute the entire Hardware section ... if it worked.

EDIT : this was done for demonstrative purposes only. I'm not actually trying to mute that subforum myself.

I have exaly never had time to actualy test that feuture out.
But Moderators cannot realy fix issues according to forum functionalities.
Maybe @wendell could take a quick dig trough the forum settings wenn he has some time for it.

Ha ha ha. Would be the case... No worries. I will keep an eye out for more popping up.

You can go to the preferences of your profile and mute sub forums like that which works. I have politics muted thank god...

I will give it a look. There is still a lingering topic from my muted subforum so I will see if it gets rid of it. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: checked the user preferences and it is listed under muted. There is still currently one topic on the feed form the muted subforum.

Some of that may be a caching thing. I may update the back end in a few days to see if it works itself out.

Thank you I will keep an eye on it and let you know if anything changes.

For sure via profile settings is the best way. I think the UI on topics for that is new.
