What are some opinions involving music that will make some people go crazy over you for? Here are some of mine:
I thought Metallica's quality in music dropped quite a bit when the Black Album came out
I think Thriller by Michael Jackson is an ungodly overrated song
I LIKED Turbo by Judas Priest. It's NOTHING compared to Defenders of The Faith or Painkiller, but I still thought it was a decent album.
Except for a few specific songs, I really don't care for Iron Maiden.
My father and I went to a store one time just to buy a couple copies of the album St. Anger. They were targets for trying out a gun for the first time my life. Yeah, him and I really didn't like that album.
I couldn't get into Led Zepplin, sorry
I also couldn't get into The Beatles, apologies for that too.
Whisper screams that are run through a preamp to make it sound like a real scream are sad imitations. If you're gonna scream do it right.
Black metal bores me
I can't see any point in goth metal. Not sure why that's actually a thing
Cannibal corpse really isn't that good
80's metal should not be compared to 90's metal should not be compared to anything modern. Especially when it comes to technicality.
Thall
Matt Halpern > Mike Portnoy
Tosin Abasi > Kirk Hammet (Yes, even the old metallica)
Logan is better at piano than Lars Ulrich is on drums.
Djent is a stupid word, and shouldn't be able to be considered a genre. But when somebody says djent, people know what it means, so it kinda is a genre.
Heavy doesn't always mean better
It's harder to play heavily syncopated poly-metric/poly-rhythmic grooves on drums than 4/4 blast beats at 200bpm.
You can be a true metalhead and still enjoy many other genres (house, swing, jazz, crossover, and some kinds of electronic music in my case)
Nu-metal and everything that ends with -core is not metal. Don't try to convince me, it simply isn't.
Slipknot sucks.
Oldschool power metal > heavy metal > black metal > melodic death metal > thrash metal > death metal = doom metal; But I enjoy them all.
There certainly is a place for ballads in metal. Not every single song has to be as hard as possible.
You don't necessarily need long hair to be a true metal head (but it helps)
Black metal artists shouldn't paint their faces white and wear ridiculous costumes on stage. It usually looks extremely corny and doesn't really add to the atmosphere. The same goes for the people at those concerts, you look pretty ridiculous.
I like J-Pop, it's enjoyable for me. Anime has ruined me......
Japanese vocaloid music is really impressive from a technical standpoint and can be enjoyable as well. I'm not a huge fan of Hatsune Miku and whatever they are called, but I listen to it from time to time.
Led Zepplin isnt a terrible band I don't like them particularly, but I can't stand Jimmy Paige and Robet Plante.
Metallica is a terrible band and does not deserve any money they have ever made.
60s/70s music is generally FAR too overrated, as far as I'm concerned it's all meh vocalists who sing in nothing but falsetto, too many drum solos, WAY too much guitar. > But There are some gems and the Bass was still well represented
ALL 80s music with VERY FEW exceptions make my ears bleed from terror and therefore I deem bad
Electronic mixed with hardcore, metal, heavy rock, ect. is a really awesome sound if not used obnoxiously
Drummers are not percussionists.
Metro Station is okay to listen to from time to time
Anyway: Rap is not music. Any talentless fool can read (dare I say it) poetry into a microphone. Music (in this context) employs instruments and singing. Similarly, I find no musical qualities to music with "death growl", or screaming. Brian Johnson gets it.
I'm also not a huge fan of the Beatles. Some stuff is good, but they are a bit overrated, IMHO.
That being said, my musical tastes change on almost a monthy basis and while I am on metallica (80s) now, I was on other 80s metal in december, and reggae in the fall.
