I picked up a Mushkin Direct Atlas Deluxe from amazon (MKNSSDAT120GB-DX) for an Asrock Beebox N3000 build but the box is shutting down and I can't see the ssd in the bios until the machine cools down. I don't have an IR thermometer, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen these drives overheat. Should I exchange it or just return it? Or do you think it could just be a bad combination with the fanless N3000. I know @wendell said he'd used a Samsung SSD but I didn't see which model, maybe I missed it in the video I'll have to go watch it again. For now I've switched to a 2.5" ssd and things are going fine, so I might just stick with that but I'd like to have 2 drives in this machine if possible.
Use it with the bottom off and monitor the temp with your finger. It sounds like SSD temps. You may be able to fix with a stick-on heatsink.
