Does it exist? I’m looking to improve my daily workflow of 4±1 machines on my desk while maintaining gaming quality. I’m also looking at a new ultrawide monitor to replace my dual 1440p setup.
Additionally are there matrix kvms that have auto-focus/expanding functionality?
Right now, the options I’ve come up with are:
- Lose VRR for a kvm with static split options (1+1, 1+3) and manually trigger changes (acceptable)
- multiple blikvm/pikvm to gaming rig on dedicated switch/port, custom webview to represent the multiple desktops (concerned about latency)
- Monitor with built in pip/pbp/kvm (static again, poorly documented, concern over actual functionality), odyssey ark gen 2 seems like the most flexible, though not ultrawide.
Any other options I’m missing? I use a tiling window manager mainly so if I’m using an ultrawide it’s going to be split up into screens anyways, so a dual monitor setup isn’t out of the question, but this is an avenue I want to fully explore before I give up.
Working on a stackable version of the hdmi version that does this
Pikvm is not reasonable because res and refresh limitations.
The only way to approach that is to split the signal and use a hardware scaler to reduce 4k/144 to 1080p/30.
Remote pikvm functions will add +10k to cost and complexity and may prevent vrr from ever working
If you got $20k laying around you can contribute that 5% to the rnd budget for pikvm features.
Other wise a g9 in split screen mode with a dual hdmi kvm or two almost does all you want
Excellent to hear on the stackable HDMI version. Thank you for the quick reply!
If it solves all of the items I’m addressing (I recognize the focus feature is unlikely) then it’ll make most sense to wait for that. I assume once I have my own functional stack, at least 3-4 co-workers will want me to set them up with the same. All of my options at this point involve compromise as well.
Where should I be watching for updates regarding upcoming releases?
P.S. I’ll go ahead and grab a neo g9!
As a side note, if it could stack with a usb-c version as well that would be incredible.
