Hi guys, i got a radeon card that only supports two monitors, i want to run 3, i also have crappier nvidia available. All my monitors are completely different from each other, and i don't mind having one of them as clone of another.
so the questions: Can i have radeon and nvidia cards running at the same time? or would hdmi splitter do the job? or there is a better solution?
Thanks
I think so, you can't run Crossfire or SLI on them, but it sounds like you weren't doing that anyway. Be sure your PSU can handle two GPU's as well.
Also, you should be able to use the ports on your motherboard at the same time, some mobo's don't support it but I think most modern ones should.
No crossfire/SLI obviously. Mobo didn't like hdmi in it for some reason altho more fiddling may fix it. What about hdmi splitter? The way i understand it it shouldn't matter if monitors are diferent native resolution as long as both 1080p, am i right?
From what I understand an HDMI splitter would only give you a clone of the source, not another independent display. There are DVI spiltters that allow this though, what other ports do you have on your GPU?
Cloning is fine with me, only need two independant monitors. Have 2 dvi one dysplayport and one hdmi. What would be the difference betwin hdmi splitter and a dvi splitter if native res on monitors is way diferent?
If you just want cloning then get whatever HDMI splitter you have. But I would recommend going for something like a DisplayPort to HDMI x2 or DVI to HDMI x2. Once you have the 3 monitors I think you would enjoy using them all independently.
Thanks for your help. I was using three monitors independently with my old nvidia, but 3rd monitor/tv is for watching things while in bed so no need for independence.
