Hi every, my friend is looking for a multi-purpose laptop that will last him a long time, but he will be mainly will be using it for Photoshop. I made a few recommendations, but I was wondering what are everyone else's opinions. He looking for one around $1,000.

asus make really realiable stuff.... I have a laptop from them, and a desktop from '08, and absolutely no probs with either

Best notebook company I know of. For a grand you dont get much for Laptops (for power). I would say he should buy a bargain bin laptop and a desktop on the side. An AMD build for like 700 bucks and a 300 notebook will be alot better then a 1000$ laptop.
no preference, I basically recommended Lenovo because it is durable and decent priced
