MSI X79A-GD45 8D compatibility?

Ok,

I bought a MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) for 73 € witch is great , but I need to know if its compatible with the i7 4xxx cpu's ,

As it was bought second hand , I can't know the bios version , so would the best solution be to test with 4820k and see if it works ?

Or should I just get the 3820 , flash a new BIOS , send it back and then buy the 4820k ( that will cost a lot ).

Or should I just resell the board ? It seemed logical to me at the time that it would be compatible , but now I'm hesitating ....

I'd you want to flash it there is no need for the 3820. You could get the oldest slowest possibly second handset i3 you can find for next to nothing and use it to flash the BIOS. It will still cost some more but should be a lot cheaper.

@Zibob you shouldn't talk without knowing, 3820 is socket 2011, i3 is socket lga 1155/1150/1156

Well , 3820's go for 180 shipped , 4820k's go for about 210€ shipped , so I might send back my current mobo + cpu ( 1231V3 + asus h97 plus ) for 295 € and buy a 4820k , then contact msi so they can flash it ( probably paying ~30€ for transport ).

And the cheapest 2011 cpu that I can get is the 3820 .Also , a cooler should not be a problem.
