Just realized that AMD named its high-end chiset X399...Well played AMD...In a year there will be an annoying clusterf@#$ of naming for the devices but still well played...

Doesn't intel know that their kaby lake x lineup is just plain STUPID!!!

Cool video, cant wait to dive into the vrm implementations on those boards.

the scary thing is that, no, they don't seem to realize that. at all. I really don't get it. Really. Srysly.

we'll talk about it more in our x299 coverage thingie

That seems to be the main opinion, here's Linus talking about many of the problems: https://youtu.be/TWFzWRoVNnE

It seems like ryzen/threadripper is the platform for enthusiasts, I just hope AMD will keep the prices below $1k

Would be nice if Msi could also create their software for linux.

It is for overclockers. You know, ln2 and liquid helium. Records etc. Those guys.

Yeah and for high fps gamers basiclly.

I think they already beat the previous frequency record (for Intel) at the HWBOT liquid helium event with Kabylake-X. Early reports on overclocking the higher core count Skylake-X seems to be in line with Haswell/Broadwell-E. Also, that 18 core thing might not be on the market before 2018.

Also, that 18 core thing might not be on the market before 2018.

They were only planning x299 to have up to 12 core CPUs but don't want to look like they are behind AMD, so they announced this 18 core CPU too much ahead of time.

Thread ripper vs Skylake-X is going to be an interesting battle definitelly.
