Hey! If you want to keep that build quiet, think about doing the inverted layout on that Dark Base 900, it gives the CPU more direct airflow:
I personally asked bequiet! to sell me an extra 135mm fan to replace the 120mm fan on the Dark Rock TR4, sounds much better to me
So you’re also having trouble with the HWM kernel and LLVM 7 as well with
nomodeset on 18.04.2. That display scrambling is indicative of that combination failing @wendell.
Nouveau actually works decently for a 18.04.2 live environment on the GTX 1070 and 1080 FE (or the 11Gbps model) with HWE and LLVM 7 as long as you only use one monitor. Maybe that could be a better option for viewing IOMMU groups in the future. RX 580 works too.
In the meantime, can you print the IOMMU groups for this board in a post? It was really hard to see because LLVM and the Kernel couldn’t do software rendering properly during
