MSI B760M WiFi DDR5 Not POSTing with GPU

Hi, terribly sorry if this isn’t in the correct category or labeled correctly - I’m quite frustrated with the following issue and I’m slowly losing my mind. I’m hoping that someone here can suggest things that lead to a solution…

I decided to upgrade my PC;
Intel 13700k
MSI B760M WiFi DDR5
Corsair DDR5 32GB 6000Mhz
2TB Solidgm NVMe
new GPU pending because I’m waiting to see how the market plays out in the coming months before I commit

I successfully installed OS (Manjaro) and everything is working 100% as I would expect using the iGPU.

tl;dr, graphics weren’t doing it for me and I decided to put in my old EVGA 1060 6GB to tide me over until I get my new GPU.

I put it in, and it wouldn’t POST. So I started Googling; people have suggested that I need to enable PEG or IDG(?) - enabled by default so didn’t think that was an issue.

Someone suggested that LTT found you need to turn down the PCIe Gen version for the main PCIe slot - ok, tried Gen3 and Gen4 to no avail.

Figured I would try updating the BIOS to the latest version, perhaps there is a bug. Can’t do that because MFlash refuses to recognise my USB drive (flashed FAT32, tried every single USB slot - nothing).

Does anyone have any experience with MSI boards or this issue? Is there a compatibility issue between the 13700k PCIe controller and an old PCIe3.0 card?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance before I phone up MSI on Monday in a bad mood.

TIA!

So a little more Googling suggests that there is a GOP issue with older cards that don’t support UEFI. I’ve checked my card BIOS and allegedly it supports UEFI.

I’ve also put the card back into my old machine and it boots fine, so I didn’t accidentally kill the card while moving it across
