well if you're broke and not a pirate (the two usually go hand in hand though) then just go check out openoffice
OpenOffice its a extremely good ofimatic tool, its open source multi platform, and he can handle ms ofice documents (2007 even), i recomend to use it. And you dont have to spend nothing to use.
