I was born in the 21 century so excuse my lack of understanding of DOS. I need help. I just a chromebook today from school and this is the laptop I spend the majority of my time with. Chrome being chrome, it sucks, to be expected. But I found on there a full MS DOS emulator, and i need help because that can do more than chrome and the other thing I had in mind was to take the battery + cmos battery and take them out for a while then when I plug it all back together then using the recovery tool to recover it in none enterprise mode and install linux, that by the way qualifys as illegal. So I need help so that I can play DOOM in between classes when I have the time. And execute .exe's. PLEASE I NEED HELP.
duno why you are mentioning dos. should be able to run it in linux/android
you don't need to do ANY of that. there's a bunch of tutorials to install Linux. everything you mentioned is very un-neccessary. as for Doom what @anarekist said. but if you need Linux there are a bunch of tutorials on youtube.
I miss the days of dos. here is a website that has DOOM for dos. If the emulator is dos 6.1 you will be fine on installing it using the dos emulator. I have limited knowledge on the dos emulators. You should be able to use dos command to execute the file.
The laptop is on chrome OS
It is enterprise enrolled, no developer mode.
Where is the link?
if it's enterprise enrolled you're boned. they are locked down for security purposes. there's no work-around.
not sure if there are any dos emulators for chrome os.
If you can setup a virtual machine, then you could also install msdos in that.

Really? xD what do you miss about dos?
If its school property then don't. Respect other people stuff.
DOS takes me back to my early 20's :O)
I guess the nostalgia I started tinkering with computers when 95 came out. I was probably 15 when windows 95 came out and this was my first computer. The first week I had it I took the cover off to find out how it worked. I was learning dos commands to install be able to install 95 from cd. Back in the day you had to Insert a floppy that had dos and CD rom support. Then you had to /cd to the CD rom. /dir to find the autoexe file and start the install process. I felt like such a hacker back then =)
The reason I can only use this so much is because I have another laptop that I've been trying to install linux on but for some weird reason the installer crashes right when it's about to install.
Figure out the other laptop then. Use different distros or try the 32 bit version. figure out why id doesn't work.(no pae support possibly)
It's got 4 gigs (RAM), and I used linux pen drive, and my distro was ubuntu gnome. It has an ironlake mobile cpu.
If its ironlake it's 2010.(should be good) Try a different distro. Other that that you will have to talk to the guys that are on the linux sub fourm.
