Mouse pad or desk mat?

Im not sure if this is the right place for this post but..

What do you guys think is better, desk mats or mouse pads?
Im in the market for a new mouse pad, and i want to pic one off of epic pants. But i cant decided if i should get a desk mat? And does anybody have any ideas when the desk mats will be back in stock?

Idk, just depends what your preference is I guess. I've been using a razer vespula hard mouse mat for awhile and I prefer it over traditional mouse pads I've used.

Currently using a desk mat. I personally like it, although if you move your mousepad around a lot, it gets annoying.

The store said desk mats would be in stock next year. Coming from a hard pad(aluminum plate) I want to get a desk mat to mute the sound of my keyboard over VOIP mainly, I could just move it to still use my aluminum mouse pad.

I personally use a mat because they're generally a lot thinner.

The desk mats are in stock on the UK amazon:

Ordered mine last Sunday, just put on my desk 20 minutes ago, they are really soft.

So if you are in Europe you should be able to get a hold of one.

Unfortunately im in the US. Gonna wait a bit to see if they come in. Enjoy your new desk mat!

I like mousepads more personally. Much easier to move around when you need to clean or transport.

Right now I'm using the Roccat Taito Control mid-size and it's just perfect. It's big for a mousepad, but still small enough that I can slip it into my 15" laptop bag so when I go to work I can game during lunch with the same pad as I use at home.

Not to take money from the Tek, have you considered just covering your desk with Neoprene? I like the Tek's items, though it would be ultra durable and maybe locally available.

For a permanent work/gaming station, a full length deskpad seems so much better. I don't yet own one, but I will buy the Tek's eventually. What I hate about a mousepad is that it moves around and has limited space.

why do you think that, im just curious what is the point of having a pad under neath the keyboard?

I haven't honestly seems to messy for me. And i would like a cool looking mouse pad/ desk mat.

do you have issues with your mouse pad moving around?

i dont have any need for it to be portable, so i think i may go for a desk mat.

A deskpad, being larger, has more surface area to grab the desk so it's not going to move so much. A lot of mousepads, expecially cheap ones, will slide too easily. And some keyboards that don't have good grips build onto the stands can benefit from this too.
