mouse azio gm2400*

problem:
mouse disconnects repeatedly and reconnects within a second or two. this happens seemingly at random, sometimes 3-4 times in a minute sometimes 30 minutes with no dc.
does not happen on linux pc's i tested it with. this happened out of the blue about a week ago and i have been trying various fixes since.

what I've tried so far:
virus scan
reinstalling the drivers for the mouse
disabling power saver one the usb ports
reinstalling the usb port drivers
windows hardware scan
reinstalling gpu drivers
trying all the usb ports
regedit (made no changes it had correct values)

what mouse, kinda important

thought i put that in specs wooops

I know Windows ten has this problem Bc windows ten is trash and their driver support is trash and updates are trash but idk about 8.1. 8.1 seemed kinda like a mistake imo. So two things bios update and USB 2.0 works better than 3.0 for whatever reason. Idk why maybe drivers for 3.0 aren't super solid yet which seems odd since 3.0 has been out for awhile or maybe if the 3.0 driver is just being dumb idk. But 2.0 is the way to go unless you really need the speed of 3.0 which for a mouse you don't.

Did you try the ports next to the PS2 port on the rear I/O, they should be USB2?

I have/had an issue with my mouse totally dropping out (R5E) and after some research I found that the very top USB ports on my board are 2.0 and I believe have a high polling rate. These ports are even labeled KBMS (KeyBoard Mouse) in the owners manual. I am not saying your motherboard has this same feature but most motherboards will almost always have at least 1-2 legacy ports for compatibility.

So if you haven't already give USB2 ports a try and see what happens. You could also get a PS2 to USB adapter and see if that does anything.

Got another mouse to test it with? Any other devices having this issue?

Yes there are mouse issues after the latest update pack for build 1607 in W10. There is nothing you can do, but wait until Microsoft solves it, hopefully next Tuesday?

He's in 8.1 not 10

Probably same problem though

win 8.1 and i tried all the usb ports. also i went a long time without updating windows before the issue started, and i did not update until after it started. i have auto updates turned off so it shouldnt be a windows update.
none of my usb's or my usb mic have this problem.

could it be a short in the wire? shorted wires behave sporadically so it could have just not happened by luck when i tested it on linux.

Have you gotten a new keyboard recently? I've had this problem before except with an Xbox controller. For some reason the controller would just start lighting up and spinning then turning off completely and not working for a few seconds then be fine. Changed my keyboard back to make a point to a friend that it couldn't be the keyboard. It was.

got a new gpu recently but no new keyboard. also i tried it on another windows pc and had the problem. it's either my mouse or that windows bug in build 1607. going to buy a Logitech 403 and hopefully get a working mouse again.

I have a wi-fi USB dongle that causes all USB devices to intermittently disconnect and reconnect. I have tested it on two systems. Do you have anything of that nature hooked up to the USB ports?

no. and the problem persist on two different windows machines where the only constant was windows 8.1(newest version) and the mouse.

i figured it out, the mouse has a sort in the wire. i tested it by putting a book on it in various places and around the middle the whole thing goes bananas.
