Reason: My main reason why this question has come to mind is because here in Sweden, we have this system where you have to pay for radio and TV channels if you have a TV, internet connected device of some sort and/or smartphone. So if you do not have the money to pay or don't want to pay those costs, am I actually able to use a computer to play games and do other stuff? I'm not saying that I'm trying to do this, I just want to know if we actually have a choice on this matter. The cost for the payment is a little over $300/year.
Question: So my question is, are there any motherboards out there that actually don't have any built in internet connectivity of any kind? Neither wireless and/or wired?
But are there any other motherboards? I mean, FM2 sockets are going to be pretty much outdated soon as well as 3GB/s SATA ports since SSDs mostly require 6GB/s SATA and games will require eight-core processors.
The sites you're searching the hardware at can be from any store in the world. It is not required to be selling in Sweden only.
With any modern motherboard you have to options if you dont want internet. Dont plug in the cable and dont connect via wifi(if its built in) or you can build the pc. Go to device manager and delete the network drivers so unless you install the driver, you'll never connect to the internet on that PC
That link you posted has a NIC so technically it can be used online.
What your actually asking for is a motherboard with no networking ability at all and simply these days no one really makes those.
Not to mention that there are also USB external Networking devices, so simply put your probably going to have to pay it either way or have to spend ages proving you dont use any form of networking.
The only fool proof way id suspect is to not have a phone line and no TV receiving equipment atall :P
Good ideas, but not good enough to actually work. The company which requires the payment searches the homes of people who denie it. If they find any device which can connect yourself to the internet, then you're paying.
So simply put, there's no choice. Feel kind of sorry for the people who can afford one-time payments for computers/consoles but not the monthly payments required to use them.
No just no. Do you really think when they come knocking on your door asking if you've paid you tv-license they give a fuck if you unsoldered the wireless module on you motherboard and you will still need a monitor for that PC so you better pay up. But if you so dearly want to not pay the license i suggest you find yourself a good cave in the forest or maybe just move i under some big ol' rock.
And now please accept this rock as a gift from me to you to aid you in your search to avoid paying your taxes or whatever you'd like to call them.
It's funny that people give responses like this is something I'm trying to do when actually, like I've written before, all I want to do is find out if people who can't afford the monthly costs but can temporarily afford a gaming system would have the chance to get one for enjoyment.
I thank the people who kept the posts at mature levels.
Well if you dont have an internet connection at home they never can tax you, saying that you not allowed to have a computer with lan connectivity would be totaly criminal! and by the way everyone has the right to communicate with the world, taxing it would be totaly criminal. you only have to pay your internet service provider for your connection offcours.
First off TV tax is the dumbest thing ever, but i can kind understand it as it pays for the free over the air channels. But internet is something you must pay for so thae fact that you can be taxed is crazy. As for MB with out Ethernet? i don't think any exist, well not any modern ones.
Grab an ultrabook with not ethernet port then manually remove the wireless card? I don't think you'll find anything without anyway to connect to the network. Also do you mind providing a link to the documentation which states this whole networking mess? I find it very odd.
It's in Swedish, hopefully you can translate it or understand it as it is.
The overall site which provides the links for this also has documentations and stuff, link is here if needed.
As it seems, like Namix said, I would need to remove the network and TV connections from my home (remove the phone line) to be able to do this. The question is, as students live in dorms which have payed tv and internet connections to the appartment embedded in the rent, would they be able to decide to pay or not to pay this? As I see it, students are kind of being ripped off. Sure, they get "free tv and internet" but they still have to pay something that costs about the same as tv or internet bills themselves. The only difference is that they might not have the choice to choose what internet speeds or channels for the tv they want.
There's also the perspective that in other countries they might not even have electricity, but that's not what I'm getting at. I just don't see why we embedded a law that clearly is flawed.
