Motherboard wont boot from DVD drive

I built a computer recently and I have been having trouble booting from my DVD drive. I cant install windows 7 without it. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 and using bios version FB.

-I do have the DVD drive hooked up to the correct sata port

-It is running in IDE mode

What can i change in the BIOS to fix this?

try to set all ports to ahci mode.

is the dvd drive set to the first boot device? (boot device priority)

is the DVD drive recoginzed in the bios?
