Motherboard Upgrade, Will I need to buy new windows?

Hey guys at the moment I have a 3570k running on an ASRock Extreme6 Z77. Im looking to upgrade to a 4690k and an MSI Gaming 7. I have an OEM version of windows 8 at the moment, will I need to purchase a new version of windows after the upgrade because I've heard that OEM windows locks onto one motherboard. Im not sure if it matters but my current OS is installed on a samsung 840. Im going to wipe the drive before the upgrade.

Technically, by changing the CPU and the mobo, you need to buy a new license. However, since you're essentially fixing your PC (it's clearly the case that there was a technical problem with your motherboard, and unfortunately you had to replace it, and you're the system integrator, so you have diagnosed it as such). For repairs with parts replacement, an exception is made, however, you'll probably have to re-activate by phone. The first time you call, you explain the issue truthfully to the Microsoft support person, that you had to replace the broken mobo and that it also damaged your CPU..............

Thank you for the reply :) Ill make sure to call them up when I'm ready to upgrade :)

You mean when your replacement parts have come in...

Hahahaha yes.

When ever I did the activation, I just called the number and the automated caller gave me the instructions and it was activated after entering all the numbers displayed on screen. Even for OEM license it worked just fine.
