Hi guys,
So, this is my first PC build. I've done a crap ton of research into my PC but I have a bit of a problem now. Here is my current component list:
CPU: FX-6300
Mobo: AsRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB)
GPU: Sapphire R9 270X
HDD: WD 1TB Internal 3.5 inch Black
Case: NZXT H440
PSU: Corsair CXM600
OS: Win7 Home Premium
Now I'm not sure if the motherboard is overkill, I wasn't planning in OCing the CPU anytime soon but I wanted a motherboard that would last and had a certain amount of upgradeability in terms of the CPU e.g. 6300 to 8350. The PC has gone slightly over budget now so I was wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives but have the same build quality, roughly the same features and must, of course, be AM3+. In terms of aesthetics, I'd prefer a black PCB but this isn't essential. Hope you can help,
Thanks, Will

This is a good bit better performance-wise, added a CPU cooler, and sub-$800 including OS (so around $700 of CPU)... What was the original budget?
Thanks for your help. Original budget was £600 for the PC itself so I think that was out of my price bracket and some of the parts you stated in the list are unavailable in the UK for whatever reason. Would the aftermarket CPU cooler be beneficial even if I'm not OCing???
it would be quieter, but its not necessary if you aren't OCing
Ahhh... you're in UK...

There's basically the same build... 600 budget... for 30 more you could upgrade to the 8320...
While the aftermarket cooler isn't "necessary" without overclocking... it's certainly preferable, especially with AMD CPUs, as the stock AMD cooler is awful and loud... but it is what it is... the main thing I did was turn an overpriced HDD and case into a 280, which is a much more powerful GPU... the mobo is better, XFX PSU is better as well (though not modular, with a define R4 case you won't need a modular PSU, TONS of room for cable management)
but yea... the first build wasn't out of your budget... just needed to switch money where it needed to be for performance :)
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/kMjdmG Switch the motherboard out to the 970 chipset version and then you can get the 8320 :)
yea I suppose if he isn't overclocking, the 970 chipset would be fine... good call
Thanks so much guys, didn't expect this response :) I think I'm going to go with DrunkenPandas build with the 970 chipset because the 8320 just seems so much better than the 6300. If I have any problems I'll come back here!! Thanks again, Will
