Motherboard bundle upgrade to Dell PC

Hi all,

Before I knew anything about PC gaming I bought a Dell Inspiron 570 system in 2010. It has served me well simply by upgrading the GPU over the years.

Original specs

Phenom II x4 2.8 Ghz

Some Dell Mobo

8GB Ram @ 1033mhz

HDD and Optical drive

Componenets I've added

Sapphire R9 280X Dual X 3GB

Corsair TX650 PSU

Antec 3000 Full tower case

I'm buying the bundle below featuring 8350 @ 4.2Ghz, 16GB ram and Gigabyte 99FXA UD3 mobo as the phenom is now holding the system back.

Now I've been told I need to buy a new copy of windows but is there anything else I will need to do as I know the dell systems are funny.

Will the Hard Drive be ok? - do I need to wipe it of the original version of windows? could it be locked to the current mobo only? etc etc. I'm somewhat apprehensive as I don't want to be left with driver issues etc. I want to know exactly what I need to do/expect so I can be prepared for the switch-over.

Appreciate any help/advice you can give.

Thanks

Reiss

Save what ever important data you have, either with an external hard drive or a flash drive to move stuff to a different computer temporarily. Once you have your new OS on a disk or flashdrive, and your new parts installed you can boot from the device that has your OS on it and you will be able to wipe everything including the old OS as it installs. The old OS is locked to the motherboard so that is why you need a new copy.
