Motherboard BIOS issue

OK, here’s what I’m going to do…
I’m going to reseat my GPU and change the GPU power cable.
The issue was not here while I was still using my 270X, so there’s that…
If that doesn’t fix the issue I will update bios…

Have you tried going into posting without drives yet?

No, I’m making dinner atm…
Once I put it in the oven I will have a couple hours to play withheld system…

Yeah well i would also advice to double check sata cables and sata powercables.
Like i mentioned above.
And i dont know if you have an weird usb devices conntected aswell?
But otherwise unplug those one by one aswell.

Just mouse and keyboard…
And a 360 pad…

PS: well, this time it booted alright without me doing anything…

PS2: no, it booted a second time nicely… No issue today…

Mkay, without any hard drives plugged in, it boots straight into UEFI…
I’ll plug them all back in and reboot… .

PS: and now it booted straight into Windows no issues…

If that behaviour (that it works without the drives but not with the drives) is repeatable it’s either sata port, sata cable or the drive(s).

Well, I tried it out, cause it didn’t boot again…
But now it did…
If that happens again the easiest thing I can do is replace the sata port and eventually the cable if need be…

Some people say it could be an USB device issue… Can it be the keyboard? I noticed that my keyboard isn’t working when the boot is not going well…
I have been drinking, so I am not in shape to test anything, but could it really be some sort of keyboard - mobo issue?

Could try a PS/2 keyboard.

I don’t have a PS2 keyboard, but I have another keyboard I can try …

If it is keyboard HID related I think the problem should show up in the logs somewhere (probably something with interrupts?). I think in Windows it’s called event log? … not sure though.

I guess, it could be the problem, stranger things have happened but I would still suspect something drive related first (cable, port, drive).

New development…
Now it stopped recognizing the mouse and keyboard as well…

So at the moment when I start the PC it:

  1. freezes on the asrock screen.
  2. after restart it passes Asrock screen and goes into a black screen with a blinking white cursor DOS style. No kwyboard.
  3. after restart Boots Windows 10, on the login screen - no mouse or keyboard recognized.
  4. After restart it’s all fine until I turn it off and we go back through all that all over again…

I am considering just flashing BIOS…

PS: Oh yeah, today when it finally booted, Eyefinity was turned on for some reason…

You are using a different keyboard now?
Try to update the bios if you didnt do that allready.

Sounds like loss of stand by power some where. If none of the other suggestions work check your solder joints.

yup, this right there

Yes, try that but make sure you have good power first. If you loose power during flashing it’s possible you end up with a brick.

Mouse and keyboard freezes in UEFI… I’m afraid to flash bios now…

What does that mean?

Sorry too hear about the issues you have but it sounds like a faulty motherboard had similar problems with a faulty motherboard which died this August and I had it replaced

If I RMA it now I will skip the devember challenge
